Unfortunately, that didn't work :(  I tried installing the Quickset that was on the drivers page as well.

Hi blee92,

Let’s try few more troubleshooting steps to resolve, as well as isolate the issue:

  • Check if vertical lines appear in BIOS screen (Restart the computer and tap F2 on Dell logo).
  • Also restart the computer and check the display in Safe mode (Restart the computer and press F8 on Dell logo and select Safe mode)
  • Run the diagnostics on the computer (Restart the computer by holding the power button and D and wait till the LCD test completes) and let me know if you observe the brightness on screen during diagnostics.

In case the system has active warranty, please private message the system service tag, contact number and registered owner’s name.

There was a similar thread a couple of weeks ago and as far as I remember the solution was to reinstall the video drivers.

Before I do that, I just want to check one more thing.  Windows is flagging that there is a compatibility issue between ST Micro Screen Detection Sensor and this version of Windows.  Does this have to do with my issue?  If so, can you lead me to the correct driver for my computer?

Hi Rajesh,

I am currently having the same problem that blee92 was having. 

I tried the recommendations that you suggested to him/her but they did not work. 

Is there any other suggestions that you might have in order for me to be able to adjust my screen brightness?
