ummm, what i mean is, hear what u speak on microphone, i found a way how to hear from an external mic, but i like to hear the internal mic as well, from the integrated mic on my computer. the integrated mic dont need any cables. mine is dell inspiron 1520.
Hello Muz_1234. This is an interesting question that I do not believe has come up before. You have XP, correct? I think there is a setting in Vista for "listen to this device" or "input monitor" but not in XP. I don't have a way for you to modify the Windows registry to do that either.
The optional mic array is controlled by the optional web cam. The software that controls the webcam is Dell Webcam Center (or Webcam Central). You might look in that program for an option to monitor the mic array. I do not have the program so I cannot look into it.
To start Webcam Central:
1. Click Start 2. Click All Programs 3. Click the Dell Webcam 4. Click Webcam Central to start the program.
To start Webcam Center
1. Click Start. 2. Click either All Programs or Programs. 3. Click the Dell Webcam folder, then click the Dell Webcam Manager icon to open it. 4. In the Dell Webcam Manager, click the Dell Webcam Center.
Hello Ravi Ch. In the bad old days in order to monitor a microphone -- to hear it through the speakers -- one had to make an edit in the Windows registry. I put all of those instructions that Dell laptop owners had figured out in the Input Monitoring FAQ.
In Vista, when you open the Playback tab of the Sound properties and click on Speaker/Headphones' properties do you have an Input Monitor setting there under Levels?
If not, how about on the Recording tab, select Internal Mic>Properties. Is there a Listen to this Device option there?
I’d advise that you uninstall and reinstall the audio drivers and the microphone drivers from your system check for the issue resolution .Please refer to the links below for downloading the drivers.
I’d advise that you uninstall and reinstall both audio drivers and the microphone drivers again on your system. Please refer to the download links from the previous post

Hi Muz_1234,
You will have to connect the mic cable to the pink port on your tower, if your monitor has come with a inbuilt mic.
If the above steps don’t work, I’d need further information about the Monitor and System you are using.

I don't know a way if you can't do it in the Sound properties or the webcam software.
