I just woke up, tried to power up my laptop and nothing, just 7 beeps over and over. I see that this has been happening a lot with this model of laptops. My dad has used Dell for several years and this one has not lasted at all. 2  years and already dead? I am a college student and can not afford to be out of a working laptop, fix it, or by a new one. Can someone at Dell please help me?

7 beeps and a black screen for yet another Inspiron M5010.

I'm so disappointed.

I've friend requested both Chinmay and Royan.

I hope they will help.

This laptop is only 2 years old, and I paid over $500.00.

OUCH!

I'm experiencing the same issue. I've had my M5010 for 13 months. What is DELL doing about this? My laptop is out of warranty. Geesh!!!

I had the same exact problem. Fought with Dell for a very long time.  It turned out to be the motherboard. Took the computer to Best Buy where I bought it a year and a half ago, along with a form  called Consumer Goods and Implied warranty Maine law. It explains that there is no such thing as being OUT of a warranty.  Check it out from your state. I live in Maine. Just type in whatever your state is and you should be able to download a copy. Dont take it to Dell, take it to the store you bought it from. They will send it out and fix it free of charge  :emotion-2:

Go to thread about M5030 7 beeps and black screen. You will see many entries from Royan. Click on his name and then friend request him. He will get back to you.

The same thing is happening to me! This is so frustrating!!  I bought my laptop May 2011. I got a 3 beep code before christmas so I ordered memory. Then I got the 7 beep code. Are there any answers that are not a new laptop??  I can't blow this much money on a yearly basis.

my M5010 worked perfectly until yesterday. Today I got the 7 beeps. I have tried the recommendation with no success. I bought it from Cyprus but I am in the USA for 1 month right now and I need it desperately. My service tag is . What can i do?

I tried the above procedure and nothing happened   except the beeps continued

service tag number

I have had this computer less than two years and this should not happen.

Whats next?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hello Everybody,

I am having the same problem as everyone else: my fairly new 1.5 year old Inspiron M5010 won't start up and instead plays 7 tones. My computer is also out of warranty. If someone has any suggestions for a solution (preferably cost-free or of low cost) I would greatly appreciate it.

                             Thanks,

                                    Max

Hi,

On the 31/03/11 I purchased the Dell Inspiron M5010, Model Number: 5010-1145. I have really enjoyed using the laptop and until recently I have had no issues.

However, now when I turn it on there is no display and only 7 beeps. The setup guide provided identifies that there is an issue with my processor.

I am very surpised by this sudden problem as my laptop is still under two years old and is sparsely used. In addtion, great care has been applied throughout it's life and it is not moved from place to place; therefore I cannot understand why these problems are occuring relatively early on. Finally, with my studies close to finishing this couldn't have happened at a worst time.

It is with great disappointment that I am having to seek help, as I purchased this laptop with confidence that I was purchasing a laptop from a quality manufacturer. This has really come as a surprise.

From looking at the Dell community forum this problem seems to be a common occurence, how can it be resolved?

Regards, Ashley

My refurbished M5010 also started the seven beeps today. I had it about a year. The battery trick doesn't help.

From the reports of people getting these back from Dell with a half-life I'm just going to let this one go and stay away from Dell until further notice.

I've owned two other Dells before, and both were actually great. I guess standards have dropped. Letting a product this bad out the door, and seeing the whole bunch combust should really be a recall.
