OH! I just realized, I made a typo. It's Recmig, it's Recimg.
However - that doesn't quite work either. Trying it on a USB stick at m:/, I get this error message:
The recovery image cannot be written to the specified path. The recovery image must be stored on a fixed disk.
Error Code 0x8004002
Is there anyway around this or should a put a small partition on the Western Digital hard drive? I'd prefer to use a flash usb stick, if that's possible.
If your system is under warranty, please provide me the Service Tag or the Express Service Code of the system in a private message. I have sent you a private message; please reply me with all the information requested. you can check warranty status from the below mentioned link:
hi, is there any difference between media recovery usb/dvd disk and this rescue disk option in dell backup and recovery software.. I also recently got inspiron 15 turbo... I have created usb n dvd recovery media.. do I still need to create rescue disk on my hdd for safety or its just the same thing.. that usb n dvd recovery media data was around 6.67gb..
Let me pop in here for a second to point out that recimg is really picky about syntax. I got an 0x80004002 error simply because I set the destination of the system image as C:image instead of C:\image.
Service Tag Service tag removed per privacy policy> I need recovery discs for dell inspirion 3847 I can't make the recovery discs from the recovery partition it said is missing or corrupted thank You

Hi,
Thanks for contacting the community.
Kindly open command prompt and enter the following command.
Recmig -Createimage c:\recoveryImage
In case you are using USB flash drive please replace c: with the USB drive letter, also please make sure you are logged in as an administrator.
Please reply if you have any further questions.
Thanks & Regards

Hi! Thanks for your response. I opened the admin Command Prompt but it didn't work. I got the following message:
'Recmig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
What next?
