Hi leroychoong,

. I suggest that you install the following drivers in the below given order:

  • BIOS (Latest version)
  • Chipset driver (Dell-Driver)
  • Video card driver. (appropriate driver depending on the Video card)

Click on this link to install the above mentioned drivers:

http://dell.to/OIrF69

Select the model of the system and download the drivers. In case, you are unable to download the appropriate drivers, reply to this post with the exact model of the system to help you in sending the link to download the drivers.

Do not use the system till it restarts and comes up to the desktop.  Restart the system after each driver update.

Please check after all the driver installation.

Hi leroychoong,

Since the issue is not resolved even after drivers updated, I suspect the issue may be with the operating system or the Video card.

I suggest that you back up all the data and restore the system to the factory installed state. Please find the steps below to reset the system to the factory installed state:

Restart the system and press the F8 key at the Dell logo every 2 seconds. On the ‘Advanced boot Options’ select down arrow key and select ‘Repairs computer’.

  • Select the keyboard method’ that is the country you belong to and click ‘Next’.
  • Enter User name and password.
  • In the ‘System Recovery Options’ click on ‘Dell Data safe Restore and Emergency Backup’
  • Select ‘Restore computer and preserve my new files or change files (recommended)’.
  • Click ‘Next’ to begin scanning your computer for changed files.
  • Next follow the onscreen instruction by clicking on ‘Next’ button.
  • When the restore operation is completed, click Finish to restart the computer.

The software is now installed as it was when the computer was first received.

In case this does not resolve the issue, send me a private message of the system service tag to check the warranty status and assist you further.

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

I'm getting system disabled (00437) and Service Tag (<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>) once I try to start the computer.  It asks for a password but the one that I

was using isn't working anymore.  I think the computer has a virus.  It's my mom's computer and I'm trying to get it up and running for her again.

Thanks

sorry, have been busy this 2 weeks. i have not received any pm nor friend request, but i have sent a friend request to you. also, regarding your solutions. i have tried that before i have started this thread, i updated the BIOS and drivers before and it didn't work. so i restored everything back to factory settings, and reinstalled everything and updates as well. but still nothing seemed to work. could this be due to a faulty graphic card? my sister's laptop which is the exact model, was bought together with mine through dell online. but her laptop does not have problems like mine. also, temperature on my laptop seems to be higher especially when engaging in rich graphic programmes like video editing and games. i have checked the power options and have made sure everything was in proper state, but still nothing seems to work.
