Please let us know when the LCD screen becomes dark? However, you can update the BIOS, Chipset and Video drivers in the system. Please use the below link to download the drivers.
Please install the video driver which is appropriate for your computer, you can check which video card your computer has by going in to device manager. Follow the steps to check in device manager.
Start > in search box type in device manager > under the video card you can check which video card your computer has whether it’s an Intel or ATI/ AMD card. You can install the video driver using the link below.
The drivers have to be installed in the same order as mentioned above and please restart the system after every driver installation. After installing the drivers and still the problem persists please run the LCD BIST test in the system to check the LCD is working as designed. Follow the steps below.
Turn the computer off >restart the computer
At the Dell logo screen, start tapping the F12 key a few times until you see the ‘One Time Boot Menu’ appear.
At the one time boot menu press the down arrow key to highlight ‘Diagnostic’, then press Enter to begin the PSA diagnostics.
You will soon see different colors on the screen; at this point please press ‘N’ which will begin the LCD BIST Test. This test will help us to identify, if there is any issues with the LCD.
The screen will display multiple flashing colors. If you observe any blurry video, distortion and or any lines on your screen, it would mean that the LCD screen may be faulty.
It starts now right off the bat. Once I turn it on it flickers from regular to dark. When it is dark it looks like everything is a negative(like a photo) it will flicker back. Sometimes it almost looks like a strobe light when it is the worst. Sometimes it will be fine. My touch buttons are working now after a few years. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. But I will try that test and will download the drivers today and will get back to you. Thank you for the timely response. Justin.
I did install the drivers but the video one did not work. It said my computer does not meet the minimum requirements. I then did the test and it passed. But as it finished and the screen was blue it was still acting up and the blue screen would flicker to a yellow color (the dark flashing to a negative like color, like a photo).
During the LCD BIST test please check the screen will display multiple flashing colors. In case you observe any blurry video, distortion and or any lines on your screen? We are not looking whether the LCD test is passing or failing, we are checking there is any distortion or any lines appearing during the test. In the previous post I have given two video card drivers, please check which video card your computer has and then choose the appropriate video card driver and install it in the system.
There were no distortions with the test. Also the screen was acting normal during that part of the test. It will work fine at some points and others it will be horrible. I clicked the link that would work for my computer and it said my computer is not comparable. So I could not instal the last driver. I don't know why it would not let me install it.
Since you have mentioned that when you try to download the video driver it says not comparable. Please let us know which video driver you’re trying to download in the system?
Since you have mentioned that Intel driver is not installing in the system I have added you friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.
I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag so I may check the region/country from where the system was purchased and assist you accordingly. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.
