Hi,

When I start up the computer it says widows is loading files and ignores the f8 command and  goes straight to the start up repair. From there it errors and says start up repair cannot repair this computer automatically. I can then select system restore which says no restore points have been created.  Lastly I can go back to restore my computer to original settings which gets stuck at 22% every time.

Thanks for your assistance,

Don

Hi,

Seems to be a hardware issue, however, to ensure I suggest you to run the hardware diagnostics. Please follow the anyone of the following actions to start the hardware diagnostics:

a) Once you press the power button on, keep tapping Fn key.
b) Turn on the system, press F12 and select Diagnostics from the boot menu.
c) Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery now, while holding the power button down, insert the AC connector into the back of the system. The system then starts and the message Diagnostic boot selected displays. The system then launches the diagnostics.

Check for any error codes and reply with the results.

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

The error code 0142 indicates that the hard drive has gone bad and you need to replace it. However, I would suggest,  reseat the hard drive before replacing it. Please refer to the link below on how to reseat the hard drive:
