Dell 5000e Install Serial mouse

Question

I have an old Dell 5000e laptop running Win 98 and i can't install a Microsoft serial mouse. It does not detect as plug and play and whatever Microsoft mouse I try to install will not install. My touchpad works fine and a PS2 mouse works fine. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks. Bobzim

Serial devices are rarely plug and play - you will need to load a driver for it.

Microsoft would be the place to look.
