Hi Catsilversun,

Could you please elaborate the issue.
For how long have you been facing this issue?
Have you made any hardware or software changes to the system?
What is the operating system installed on your computer?

The driver you mentioned is available for Windows 8 operating system.

Please reply with the information.

Hello.

I have only just bought this computer. There was a graphic issue in playing URU (called Relto snow) so I was trying to update the video drivers as it appears to be a driver issue. I also did a factory reset prior to trying to install the Intel video driver. I read elsewhere in the forums that I should update the bios first?? Should I?

It is a Windows 8 laptop, Inspiron 15R SE 7520

Hi Catsilversun,

Thank you for your response. May I know the issue that you are facing while playing the game. Please check which options have a yellow exclamation or question mark in Device Manager (share screenshot if possible).

You can update the BIOS of the computer and then try to update the video driver. Here is the link to update BIOS: http://dell.to/SLdgCM
Note: Before updating BIOS please ensure that:
*Battery is 10%> or >10% charged
*Battery charger should be connected
*No external devices (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) should be connected.
*All other programs should be closed and documents saved

Please reply if you have any questions.

Hi.

I updated the bios ok, but it still has the same error message when I try to update the Intel driver. Very frustrating.

Hi Catsilversun,

Thank you for your response. I understand it could upsetting not to be able to use the computer. May I know the issue you are facing while playing the game. Please check if there is a yellow exclamation or question mark in Device Manager (share screenshot if possible).

I would recommend you to uninstall the graphics card from device manager and then update the graphics card.

  • Right click on the right hand bottom corner of the screen, choose 'Device Manager'
  • Expand ‘Display Adapters’
  • Right click -> choose ‘Uninstall’
  • Restart the computer and try to update the graphics card

Hi.

I have just recently bought two almost identical laptops.

One is the:

Inspiron 17R SE 7720

Service Tag:

The 17R works perfectly.

The one with the problem I bought for my wife is:

Inspiron 15R SE 7520

Service Tag:

The only difference I can see is that the 17R has the Nvidio GeForce GT65M card, whereas the 15R has the AMD Radeon HD7730M.

It is very likely the Intel HD Graphics 4000 card that is related to the problem.

The problem is that in Myst Online URU, the textures are all white, as if it has snowed. If I disable the Intel HD Graphics, this fixes the problem, but obviously isn't a solution.

It did work once when I changed some of the settings, I think I changed/rolled back drivers, but I can't seem to get it back to work now. So it should be fixable.

I have tried different settings in the Intel Control Centre/Intel HD Graphics, but without luck.

In Catalyst I have set URU to High performance (which I think it should be), so that I assume it is using the AMD card, but maybe it isn't working?

There is a new Intel Graphics driver but it won't install, it says the system isn't supported, which doesn't make sense as it is the one specific for the 15R that I downloaded from my account.

Please help.

Also, when I choose 'Uninstall', do I also choose 'Delete the driver software from this computer'?

I assume also we are uninstalling the Intel HD Graphics 4000 card not the AMD Radeon card?

Cat

Hi Catsilversun,

Thank you for the information. I appreciate your technical expertise. I would recommend you to uninstall both Intel and AMD Radeon including the driver software by checking the box. Then restart the computer and install the drivers from the link mentioned below:

Please reply with the findings.

Hi.

I have tried this.

It will not install the Intel driver, saying that the system is not supported.

When I install the AMD driver, it appears to work, but it then simply re-installs the old driver.

There are numerous posts in the Dell forums about these problems.

I have spent the last week since I bought the 15R trying to fix things, the laptop will not work for what I wanted it for.

There is obviously a problem with one or all of switchable graphics, AMD video cards/drivers and Intel cards/drivers.

Regrettably, please advise how to return this system as the setup is obviously faulty.

Thanks

I too have the same problem. I was on the phone with Tech Support a few weeks ago and they got it up and running after three hours. I tried it tonight and again, I cannot get WIDI to work. I have Push2TV and am trying to watch movies from Amazon Instant Video to my HDTV. I look in my Start/Programs and found the Intel folder and WIDI folder. When I open the WIDI folder it says (empty). I tried to install the Widi driver and it says it's installed. I'm at my wits end with this thing. Help please someone!!!

Not supported message on the Intel HD 4000, the amd 770m doesn't kick in half the time or keeps giving an error.

To make matters worse windows update, updates the Intel HD 4000 to a non gpu switchable driver (non dell) and you cant then install a windows 8 driver from dell, you couldn't make it up.

still no further forward after spending all day reading pointless responses from dell, install this, uninstall change the order etc. what a disgrace. How hard is it guys to get a driver working?

I even let dell scan my laptop to give me a list of the drivers for download and it proceeds to lets me download apparently "non supported drivers for the HD 4000" why?

everyone is having this issue and dell are sitting doing nothing. the drivers for windows 8 for this machine dont work how many people need to ask the same thing before they are fixed?

Same issue. Was running Windows 7 fine. Decided to move to Windows 8, did a clean install. Now I find that none of the video drivers on Dell's site actually work. The Radeon drivers crash with a black screen when installing. The Intel drivers fail to install with the error message mentioned in this thread. It is painfully obvious Dell did no QA at all. This will be my last PC purchased with Dell. Funny how at work we don't have any issues like this now that we have moved from Dell to HP for our servers and desktops/laptops. I should have learned the last time I ordered from Dell. Three computers, and I have yet to have anything that vaguely resembles a good experience. I wish I were lucky enough to return this piece of garbage.
