Thank you for the Information that you've provided. Could you provide some more details about the issue that you are facing? It will help me to get more clarity: - You referred to the errors related to 'blocks in SATA Drive'; please share the exact error message(s). That will help in better diagnosis - Did the computer shut down/restart when you were running the hardware tests? - Please update about the status of your computer in system BIOS; please use the steps I gave in my previous post to take the system in BIOS and check if it restarts in that environment
Do reply if you have any further questions. Glad to assist.
Could you provide me more details about the issue that you are facing? That will help me get a better understanding: - You referred to the parts replacement (fan, motherboard & lcd); Did you replace these parts yourself? If yes, did you consult the technical support team about compatible spare parts for the laptop? - Do you mean to say that the power button of the laptop gets stuck on some occasions and does not function smoothly? Or the laptop exhibits random shutdowns while you are using it? - Please mention if you have already tried performing any troubleshooting steps
In the mean while I recommend you to perform the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Remove any peripheral devices that are attached to the computer. Peripherals include: - Printers - Scanners - Media Card Readers - Mobile devices such as smart phones or tablets or portable digital assistants or MP3 players - Digital cameras or video recorders - USB storage devices - Remove the computer from a docking station if it is in one - Remove any CDs or DVDs in the optical drive
2. Drain out the residual power: - Power off your computer. - Unplug the AC adaptor and battery of your computer. - Press and hold the power button of your computer for 10-15 seconds to drain out the residual power. - Release the power button. - Insert the AC adapter only and power on the laptop - If it goes beyond 'Dell Logo' this time, power it off, insert the battery also - Power on the computer and recheck results
3. Run 'hardware diagnostics' to check hardware functionality - Power the system off - Power it back on and repeatedly tap < F12 > at Dell Logo (If Windows Logo appears, please repeat the same steps) - Use arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight 'Diagnostics' option - Tap < Enter > and run PSA (Pre Boot System Assessment) - Follow the onscreen instructions and capture error(s) if observed
4. If the issue still persists, try updating system BIOS: Note: Before flashing the BIOS please check the following:- - Battery should have 10% or greater charge - Adapter should be connected - No external devices should be connected - All other programs should be closed and documents saved
Click on link to download and update the system BIOS: http://dell.to/VQb53y - Click on “Get driver” - Save the BIOS on your desktop - Right click on it and select “Run as administrator” - Follow the prompts on screen to install BIOS (System may produce beep sounds and may restart)
I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.
I am sending you a private message as well. If the issue persists, click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s 'Service Tag' and 'Account Holder's name' so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.
Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to assist.
Secondly I didn't change the hardware parts alone. Dell came to my house and replaced them herself. And finally I will explain you my problem. My laptop DOESN'T (sorry for caps) open. I press the power button it lights and then it turns off. I don't even get to the BIOS screen.
Hope this help you understand my problem.
Best regards Philip!
PS* I will accept you when I open my pc I am from my mobile atm.
Thank you for accepting my friend request and also responding through a private message. It appears that your laptop is powering on but shuts down after some time. This may be an issue with the motherboard or memory and may need part replacement.
Through a private message, please respond with your system’s 'Service Tag' and 'Account Holder's name' so I may access your system records, verify warranty status and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.
Each Dell computer has a unique code assigned to it that can help us to retrieve the system's specifications. This code is labeled as 'Service Tag' and is a 5 to 7 digit alpha-numeric code. You will find it at the bottom of your Dell laptop. Please refer to the image below: You may send the 'Express Service Code' also. System details can be pulled up with this number as well.
Could you provide me more information on the issue that you are facing? - When you power on the laptop, how long does it take for the laptop to shut itself down? Does it reach the 'Windows Logo' screen? Does it allow you to work in 'Windows' at all? - Were you able to run diagnostics? If yes, what are the test results? If you've not performed the diagnostic test, please do. Laptop may shut down or restart due to software issues or virus infection also. - Were you successfully able to update BIOS? If not, please share the error message you encountered
Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to assist.
I didn't try to update BIOS I had updated it on August neither run system diagnostics. And about the virus infection recently (yesterday) I found a Trojan at Windows 7/System something like this but I deleted from my antivirus. And about my problem as I said you in PrivateMessage now opens faster. But the other times I had my computer in charge, then I was pressing the power button the computer was doing the normal sound (fan etc.) for one second and then it turned off. After 3-4 seconds still in charge the same thing happening and then again the same and it opened after 1 hour of doing this thing.
Thank you for a quick response. As per details you've mentioned in your previous posts and the private message, the laptop stays on for a few minutes when you first power it on.
I strongly recommend you to run hardware diagnostics on the system. The 'hardware diagnostic' test will give decisive results on the health status of the hardware components. Though it appears as unlikely, but it may be a software corruption in your laptop as well; and in that case even part replacement may not help. To be completely sure that the issue is hardware related, please run the PSA (as suggested in my previous post) and report with the results.
You may also keep the laptop on the system set up (BIOS screen) to check if it shuts down in that environment. This stage of the laptop is free from the interference of 'Windows Operating system' and isolates if hardware failure is causing the laptop to shut down. To enter in system BIOS, please follow the below listed steps: - Power off the laptop - Power it back on and repeatedly tap < F2 > as Dell logo appears on the screen (If 'Windows logo' appears, repeat the same steps) - BIOS screen appears (Screen looks similar to the image below)
- Allow the computer to stay on this screen for some time to check if it shuts down in this environment also.
Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to assist.
Glad to know that the issue is fixed. It appears that it may have been a software hiccup that was fixed with an update. Since hardware diagnostics passed on your computer, there is nothing to worry about. Do reply if you have any further questions. Glad to assist.
