Cannot install Win Vista

Question

I have a Dell Inspiron 530. It has only sata connections for the hard drives and power supply. I cannot currently afford a new hard drive, so I bought an Ultra SATA to IDE adapter that fits on the hard drive itself. It is an IDE hard drive. I do not have the original hard drive because it is dead. So I wanted to install Windows Vista ( originally on it ) onto this IDE drive. I cannot do a thing because it will not load the SATA drivers and the BIOS has no autodetect, but when I go there and click enter to detect the HD, nothing happens either. Can someone steer me in the right direction? Thanks. This was given to me without the HD( which is useless ) and I am hoping to get it up and running. Thanks all.

Hi ohelpmeplz, I have yet to see one of these SATA-to-IDE adapters work. Can you tell me which one you got?

You'd be better off installing a PCI IDE adapter.
