They can get warm, yes. Is this an OEM adapter or a third-party one?

It is an OEM adapter. Ejn63, you were helping me with my issue a few weeks back and it turned out the AC adapter was the issue ( in addition to a dead battery)....
I just don't remember the old AC adapter getting warm at all...
