Hello, thank you very much for the tutorial, it works without problem on Latitude E6520, but ...
I would like to set up fingerprint in pre-boot mode, you know ... In Windows 7 in Dell Acees aplication, I set fingerprint, password or contactless card reader, and Windows 8 works in only a fingerprint BIOS and pre-boot mode does not work ...
This seriously needs to officially drivers from DELL, I do not know how many will have to wait but very much hope that it will not take long.

The procedure of installing the DigitalPersona software and then the ControlVault software does work for the default functionality on a Latitude 6530.
But as mentioned before... the startup prompt for a swipe during boot is not an option with this solution AND for instance I use Lastpass and they have a fingerprint reader integration as well. This integration won't work because it will start the Broadcom software and that will break the complete solution of DigitalPersona software.
So hopefully Dell comes up with a supported solution (a new version of the Broadcom software)

Thanks for the link to the software. I was able to install it and it shows up properly in my Device Manager. However, when I try to Use fingerprint with Windows it gives me this error:
Any ideas?

Dell Latitude E6220
I had the same problem and I solved it like this:
1. Install downloads.dell.com/.../CV_WBF_Setup_Y2GT8_64bit_ZPE.exe
2. restart
3. install s3.amazonaws.com/.../setup.exe
4. restart
OK
Thanks for any help

I tried twice on my E6430 and didn't work.
I did the same thing on my E6400 and worked very well.
I had a weird issue on E6430. After installing DPF, I could record fingerprint, without problems, some times I get the message on first screen: "Reader not ready".
If I log in using password and lock it the computer, I can use my fingerprint. Sometimes after restarting this message does not come. Another issue on same computer is when I shut it down using command line. When I run "Shutdown -s -t 0" to shut down my computer, it really does a restart. (it does not power down).
Without DPF, the computer shuts down with no problems. I tried twice. If I install DPF, the problem comes back.

This worked for me on my E6430 with Windows 8 x64.
First I installed CV_WBF_Setup_Y2GT8_64bit_ZPE (Broadcom Drivers), than Dell Personal 6.2.0.300 - GM2. After a reboot I was able to save my fringerprints in the software and also the login worked.
Dell needs to update the driver sections. It's not okay to say, that windows 8 is compatible with the E6430 when some parts are not working with the software tha's available.

Agree,
my Latitude E6430 now works for Windows login but LastPass can't recognize the fingerprint reader.
Any official updates?

I have my fingerprintreader working for a couple of weeks. But a lot of times my laptop wakes up in a unlocked state without fingerprint or password. My screensaver says that it should resume with asking password.
So this is absolutely not a secure solution. PLEASE DELL DO YOUR JOB!!! release a new driver...

This is what worked for me with my M6600, and I suspect it will work with all. It is a summation and re-ordering of what has already been stated by JamiePUK
Start clean
*Windows 8 requires uninstalling the Dell fingerprint software so these drivers may have already be deleted in which case you will see a warning in Device Manager for the Broadcom device.
1. Press + X and select Device Manager
2. Select Biometric Devices --> Control Vault w/Fingerprint Swipe Sensor
a. Right-Click and select uninstall
b. Check "Delete the driver software for this device"
c. Press "OK"
3. Select ControlVaultDevice --> "Dell ControlVault w/Fingerprint Swipe Sensor" and perform the procedures as in step 2.
Install
1. Install Dell ControlVault Windows Biometric Framework Integrated : DELL_CONTROLVAULT-WINDOWS-BI_A00_R308326.exe http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/driverdetails?driverid=R308326
2. Install Fingerprint application Dell Personal 6.2.0.300 - GM2.zip posted here: http://sdrv.ms/TLGCEc
3. Reboot
4. After it boots up, before you log in, you will see a link about fingerprint scanning. Click the link and register register your fingerprints.
Caveat:: You must use the newly installed Digital Persona software to manage your fingerprints. The FMA, Finger Print Management Application available under "Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Biometric Devices" does not work under Windows 8 64. As someone observed earlier, not having an update for this application may be the only obstacle preventing Dell from providing Windows 8 support for this device.

I have just taken receipt of a Dell E6530, Win-7 Pro, 64 bit, i7 Quad, 8 gig of ram and I am having many of the same issues that I have seen for other users of Dell products when trying to enable the finger print reader. I need some assist with my 6530 and some assurances that the procedures cited above will work for me as it seems to have worked as noted above. I have the same messages noted by others indicating that no finger readers are found or that the Broadcom w/touch sensor is not installed. I have done everything else that I can at this time. The 6530 works fine in all other respects except for the finger print reader. Can you assist me with a viable solution to my problem?

Hi,
I have been seeking an answer to my issues with my new Latitude 6530 regarding finger print reader problems and I have yet to see an answer that I feel applies to my situation and specific to type of configuration. So, here again is a re-statement of my problem:
I took receipt of a new E6530 Dell Latitude, Win-7 Pro, i7 QUAD, 8 gigs of ram, and I have not been able to get the finger print reader to enable or work on any level since I took receipt. I have seen a number of solutions posted within the forums, but I have not seen any that seem to apply correctly to my situation and system configuration. When I attempt to go into the Biometric application and start the process of enabling application I get the message no "finger print reader were found" or I will see a message that "no drivers for the Broadcom USH w/touch sensor are installed. I have done all of the normal trouble shooting ranging from reviewing the BIOS set up to insure enabled TPM, checking and updating drivers for all biometric devices, to uninstalling and re-installing drivers associated with biometric devices.
I need the correct solution to my problem related to the type system that I have and the configuration installed on this system. Can anyone help with my issues??????????????????

Thanks for the heads up, EF. There is a 64 bit driver too - www.dell.com/.../driverdetails
But too good to be true - try to download and Dell says the file does not exist.
I am sure it will soon.
