I have the same problem on the same laptop (pre-installed Windows 8). Despite "Battery health" options enabled in Dell power management utility, the battery still gets fully charged if AC is connected (not stopping at about 50% as it's supposed to). I tried to discharge it below 50% level, but after it's reconnected it still doesn't stop charging until 100% level reached.
Does dell laptops provide an option for automatic enabling and disabling of charging ie when the charge falls below a minimum limit it should enable charging and when it is fully charged it should disable charging automatically if the laptop is connected to the charger all the time?
I have the same problem, I opened a thread similar to this, some months ago.. and no real solution. They asked me to update my bios.. I did that, I reinstaled my OS, and the problem is still there.
Dell we need a solution for this problem...there are other cheap notebooks having this option up and running.
It's frustrating for us.. and in the future we have lot`s of options for purchasing a new laptop
I would like to explain that I formatted my hd and installed windows again (Win 7 x64), installed all drivers in "correct" order described in provided source and turned on "desktop mode" and "longevity mode". And I still have the problem - battery is charging to 100%.

Same question, from a Vostro 3560 owner.
Make it four, then. Four thousand, because there are lots of people out there wanting this but don't post after seeing so many unresolved bumps.

I also have the same problem - my battery is charging to 100%. I use Inspiron 7520. Dell can you fix it?
