Hi stephen.molis,
You can try updating the latest 'Touchpad' driver on the laptop. The following link will provide you the latest 'Touchpad' driver for the system;

Before installing, go to Start menu> Control Panel> Programs and Features. Once the programs window opens, locate 'Dell Touchpad' or 'Alps Touchpad' or 'Synaptics Touchpad'. Uninstall it by right clicking and once done restart the system completely.
