Hello Jim

Yes, the USB port still functions with the NMC installed. I was also unable to find documentation to state this, but we do have internal documentation regarding issues that involve using the USB while the NMC is installed.

One issue may be related to your problem. It involves trying to update the firmware via USB when an NMC is installed. The issue has something to do with ULNM or MUMC not allowing the update through USB. One of the resolutions is to update from a computer that does not have ULNM or MUMC installed. Do you have ULNM or MUMC installed on this Iomega device you are attempting to manage it from?

Thanks

Thanks for the tip on updating the UPS firmware, Daniel. I have been having problems getting the firmware downloaded since last Friday as the download link takes you to a page that just says "We're Sorry...Details for this driver are currently unavailable. Please try again later." You wouldn't happen to have a FTP address for it, would you? :)

Once I get it downloaded, I will be sure to use a computer that does not have ULNM or MUMC installed on it. Hopefully updating the firmware will correct the problem I am having. I will keep you posted.

As for the Iomega device; there is no way to install ULNM on it. You can go to iomega.com/.../manage.html to get a look of the interface. It's a neat little system, but every application that can be used is already installed and accessed through a web based GUI.

Ok, I downloaded the UPS firmware via FTP and updated both devices successfully. Unfortunatelyl this did not fix my problem. Upon connecting a USB cable from the UPS to the Iomega, the Iomega returns the following message: "Unable to retrieve the requested information."

I am unsure whether this is a problem on the Iomega side or the UPS side. I will continue working with both support groups in an effort to remedy this situation. I have informed Iomega that the firmware is updated on the UPSs and am awaiting a reply from them.

I didn't think we had a UPS around that wasn't already in service, but I remembered a little Tripp-Lite INTERNET750U UPS that hadn't been put to use yet. I plugged it in to the Iomega and it was immediately recognized, thus potentially eliminating the Iomega as the problem. Any thoughts? Still waiting on a response from Iomega.
