Hi shashi.sd89,

What is the status of the power light? Do you see the Dell logo when you turn on the system? I will recommend you to drain the flea power and see if that makes a difference:

  • Disconnect all the external peripherals.
  • Unplug AC Adapter and take off the battery.
  • Press and hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Connect the AC Adapter and check if the system is working fine.

In case the issue persists, run LCD BIST (LCD diagnostics) to ensure the LCD is working fine:

  • Turn off the system.
  • Press and hold 'D' and press the power button at the same time; make sure you do not release 'D' until the diagnostics initiates.
  • Please check if you see the color bars.

You may also run the diagnostics to check the other hardware functionality:

  • Restart your system and keep tapping 'F12' as soon as the Dell logo appears.
  • Highlight 'Diagnostics' using up/down arrow keys and press enter.

Please let me know if you get an error code/message.

Keep me posted. Please reply for any further questions.

Hi shashi.sd89,

Thank you for the reply. Please connect an external monitor with your system and let me know if you get display. Here is the description and the possible cause of the beep codes on your system:

Beep Code Overview

Beeps

Description

Possible Cause

1

BIOS ROM checksum in progress or failure

System board failure, covers BIOS corruption or ROM errors.

2

No Memory (RAM) detected

Memory or Memory slot failure

3

  • chipset Error (North and South bridge error, DMA/IMR/Timer error)
  • Time-Of-Day Clock test failure
  • Gate A20 failure
  • Super I/O chip failure
  • Keyboard controller test failure

System board failure

4

Memory read / write failure

Memory failure

5

CMOS battery failure

6

Video BIOS test failure

Video subsystem failure

7

You mentioned in the initial post that you get 6 beeps followed by 5; you should either get 5 beeps in a series or 6 beeps in a series.

I have added you as a friend. In case the issue still persists, please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag along with the system owner's name on a private message so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. Hello Vilkram

I have a similar problem. I own a Dell Inspiron 1564. I have been using my Dell for three (3) years now. I love my Dell and I hope I will be able to fix the problem . The problem is, I power on the laptop this morning, the laptop gave. 6 short beeps followed by 5 beeps. The power light is On (white), I pressed the esacape button twice and the Dell laptop boots but no display on the screen. I even entered my password blindly and the laptop works, gives the window login sounds, I can hear Skype start up sound; but the screen remains blank through out this process!

Do you have an idea of what the problem may be and how I may be able to tackle the challenge.!? This is the first time I am having an issue with my Dell Inspiron 1564.

Hi Okeys,

i had similar problem, now its solved, my graphics card was not working, so i replaced it,it cost me around 3.5k,but beware of local service centres, ask them to put new graphics card, else they will put some old card and loot full amount from you later,it will give same prob again

Hello Shashi

Thanks for responding. Where did you have yours changed!? Was your Graphics card built into your Dell inspiron 1564 mother board!? Did you replace it with an Exact type of Graphics card !? And is it possible to opt for a higher capacity graphics card!?

I hope to hear from you soonest.

Thank you for your response and for giving me hope!

Hi

I too have the same problem. with my laptop. is your graphic card is built-in in motherboard or have separate slot? If you too have built-in graphic card in motherboard, then how you replace it with new one and also from where you purchase the new one.

In my area there is no dell authenticated service center. Please help

Hello Gitesh

I have not fixed mine yet! I don't know if the Graphic Card is in-built to the mother board or a separate slot! I should see a technician this weekend!

HI Okeys,

Actually graphic card is embedded within  mother board,if you ask dell people, they will ask you to replace mother board itself which will cost you around 15k, but local vendours can fix it on  same old mother board, and yes you can go for higher config, earlier i had 512mb graphics card, i have replaced with 2gb graphics card

Hi Oke

I concerned with a technician last  week. firstly he said this is the problem due to graphic card and that is inbuilt in motherboard and they are very familiar with this one..they said it's common now days.Graphic card chip set is fix on the motherboard and is repairable but no warranty .This problem is because some circuit of this chip is not working properly ..as it require some heat to work all the circuit in regular fashion. he said it's better to repair the old chip and no need to buy new chip.New chip cost worth around 3.5 k. Hope you also concerned with any technician. So please give me the feedback what he suggest to you..

Anyone else who are reading this post, if they also faces the same worst problem then please reply whether to repair the old one or go with the new one.
