Please let us know where exactly the sound is coming from, whether it is on the left side or from the front of the system? The devices which can give sound in the system are hard drive, fan and speakers. In this system fan is on the left hand side, speakers are in the front part of the system, hard drive is at the bottom. Also let us know if it occurs only when you are using any particular application.
My hard drive is also making clicking noises from time to time but this doesnt have to be a failure. It can happen when the hard drive moves its "heads"
May I ask what hard drive you have installed in your system? Mine is a Toshiba MQ01ABD100
When the hard drive is in use there might be a clicking noise time to time and it is normal. When the noise is very frequent and continuous then there is a problem with the hard drive.
For what it's worth my Toshiba MQ01ABD100 (just got it yesterday refurbished) also makes a slightly audible(but annoying) clicking sound from time to time usually when it isn't busy.
Are you still using this drive without any issues in spite of the clicking?

It is not a good idea to work on a system with an audible clicking noise. If are sure the noise is from the hard drive, I recommend you to run custom test on the HDD. Restart the system and at the Dell logo keep taping the F12 key every 2 seconds. This will start the One-time boot menu. Using arrow keys select ‘Diagnostics’ and hit enter. This will run quick test without waiting for your input. To select a specific test, wait till the quick test completes, next a list of test available will be displayed. Please select Hard drive, check ‘Thorough Test mode’ and click Run tests. Please reply with the status to assist you. Also provide the system model.

the clicking sound seems to be normal at this hard drive. So dont worry.
If it was broken the smart test would very likely detect this or at least any other errors would occure
