OS partition has the operating system installed. OEM partition on computer has recovery image and contains the Dell diagnostics. In case there are any issues with operating system, you may restore your computer to default factory settings from this image. Please perform a data backup prior to this step. Please disconnect any external peripherals (printer, scanner or any USB device) as well. Check the following link for steps to perform PC restore: http://dell.to/Wj1rZe
Recovery partition might not work in case you have tried changing the partitions by adding, deleting, or re-sizing it. As you are able to boot computer to Windows, you may create a set of recovery discs using the Dell data safe local back up. With that you would be able to restore the system with all the pre-installed software that came from the factory at a later time.
Hope this helps. Please reply for further clarifications.
If you plan to re-install the operating system with the re-installation media, the recovery partition on the drive may not be of much use. Formating that drive will lead to complete data loss including the factory image and partitions.
If a low level formatting is done on a disk with data on, the data and partitions are permanently erased. Data stored on hard drive might not be accessible once you initiate the process. I would recommend to back up all the data that you need from computer. You may expect some success and the drive may get usable for some more time. However, based on the severity level of "bad sectors", the issue may re-appear. While researching, I found some information that might be helpful for you. thanks a lot ,, your answer helps a lot ,, but in case i'm going to full erase the HDD it will also erase those partitions ,, so am i going to face any problems if this happened?? i mean i don't use system recovery at all i always install a fresh copy of win7 and i really need to low level format so is there any problems will occur?
1) Change BIOS boot order - The most successful fix for this issue is to set the optical (DVD) drive as the first boot device in the BIOS. To do this, first enter BIOS mode as follows:
This is accomplished by pressing a specific key repeatedly as soon as your computer is turned on (or right after it is restarted). For many computers, the key is F1, F2, F10, the Delete (del) key or the Escape (ESC) key. Consult your computer or motherboards manual or try different keys until you find the right one.
Find the screen or option for changing the boot order. Follow the instructions for changing the boot order.
2) Disconnect all internal hard drives you are not installing Windows on. Also disconnect all external drives. Then reconnect after installing.
3) If you downloaded Windows 7 and burned it to a DVD, double check that you burned the .ISO file as a disk image (and not as a regular file) to the empty DVD. If you burn it to a DVD again use the lowest speed possible. It's also possible the download has errors, try downloading it again.
I have Dell Inspiron 15 R N5010. One day i got blue screen and then after machine restarted. From that time whenever i was starting my machine, window is trying to start but after some time it was restarting. So that i tried to reinstall os Win 7.
Initially when i was trying to reinstall OS 7, i was able to see Disk drives but i was unable to select/format drive. Then after i restarted my machine and i got black screen with message repair windows. after one selection, i selected Write Boot File(thinking that it will help). machine did some processing.
But then after i am not seeing HDD drive when i trying to restart, There is option come Load driver. But not sure what to do?

A required CD/DVD device driver is missing
