This has been bugging me for ages, finally found a solution.

Open the registry editor ( Start > Run > regedit ) and go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\Elantech\OtherSetting

There are two keys to change, one called DisableWhenType_AllArea and one called DisableWhenType_Enable

They will both be set to "1", double click them and change them both to "0"

exit, restart and problem solved :)

That does fix the problem, thank you. But now I lose all my zooming abilities when I put two fingers on the touch pad, etc.  Are there like different types of drivers for touch pads?

Hi folks,

I just received my dell inspiron 7737 today.  Ive been trying to fix the same issue with using the trackpad and keypad at the same time but it has been unsuccessful thus far.  I play games and cant currently play my favourite two because they involve both mouse use and key use...I don't have a desk so using a mouse isn't easy and I consider I shouldn't have to since I paid so much for what I thought was a good laptop!

I have checked my registry and the file talked about in this thread doesn't exist.

Would anyone be able to help me?
