Do you mean the 26 pages of
1800FP stuck in DVI Power Save Mode thread? If that thread was causing Dell too much bad publicity, could they be trying to conceal it? Is there any technical journal that might be interested in some of these happenings? Some kind of national attention to this Dell problem might get some management attention.
I figured out that on my screen, all of the messages were sorted by the original thread date, as opposed to the latest post date.
Try this - it worked for me. First, be sure you are logged in to the Dell Community Forum. Then, at the top of the Monitors thread (underneath "Dimension - Monitor", but above "Concerned about sypware?" there is a link that says "Board Options". Click it, and choose "Sort Messages by Latest Post Date" from the drop-down menu.
First time to join this support community. Good to be here.
I have been excited about my new Dell system (my first) that I had just ordered-an 8300 3GHz. Particularly about the great deal I got on the 1800 FP (w/ nvidea fx5200) which Dell practically gave away. .
Yesterday I thought I would check out the support forums. And then happened on this DVI Error thread (which was harder to find today!) My morning cup of coffee turned bitter. My joy turned to concern. The primary decision to purchase a new computer was to eliminate the time spent keeping my old one running and spend it doing ministry. Frankly, I am much better at faith healing than computer trouble-shooting. The primary reason I went with Dell was its reputation for quality customer service. And I place a high value on trust and integrity. Based on reading your experiences posted to this forum, it seems I must again resort to prayer. Besides applying the old Oral-Roberts-laying-hands-upon-the-monitor method, any advise on what to do now ?
Finally, blessings on you Jesse. You have a hard job. Go with God!
