Hi isinerevive.

Thank you for the detailed description of the issue. If the Num Lock is flashing with Caps lock and Scroll lock key LEDs on, I suspect the motherboard is faulty. You may try replacing the motherboard.

In case you belong to US region, the contact number for Out of Warranty Department is 1-800-288-4410 and for UK region the number is 844-338-1000 . If you belong to a different region.

I appreciate the quick response to this issue. It could be a bad motherboard again, but I find it strange that in less than a month I will have gone thru three of them. After the first one crashed, I bought a second motherboard which was faulty and since the company I purchased it from wouldn't refund the purchase amount, they sent another one. According to them, they even tested this one before it was shipped to be certain it worked...Granted, that doesn't neccessarily mean they fully equipped it like I have with all the necessary components to get it up and running, but what are the odds of getting two faulty motherboards of the exact same model as the original and both end up faulty? This is not the first laptop or desktop machine that I've replaced hardware components on or fixed for that matter, but it is the first time I've ever encountered a problem like this.

Nevertheless, I will make that call. Again, I appreciate the information and the quick response.

Hi isinerevive,

I understand the inconvenience.

My recommendation is to purchase the parts from the Dell sales, that way you will be sure of the part compatibility with the system. In case the system is Out of warranty some regions also have an option for depot service where the system to shipped to Dell depot where the technician will diagnose and replace the relevant part.
