Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition 7520 with windows 8

Question

Hello; I recently got a laptop and was trying to play a game called dead rising and it was lagging. I was wondering if  the problem was not a powerful enough  graphics card, and if so then can i get a better one for my computer? Or can I tweak with my computer to make the graphics better by making the  computer use Radeon HD 7730M instead of the intell graphics card? Thank you

Welcome to the Community,

If you're system is configured with both Intel and AMD Radeon HD 7730M graphics card then you can make use of AMD Switchable Graphics technology to assign graphics card for specific applications.

Follow the steps below to assign graphics card for applications :

Click the Start button and select Programs

Click Catalyst Control Center

Click Power and select Switchable Graphics

Choose an application from the list or browse and select an application and assign the appropriate GPU.

Following the above steps to assign Radeon HD 7730M graphics card for your game and check how it works.

Hi burritosupreme5, In Windows 8 use the search option to find Catalyst Control Center.There you can assign your game for high performance and it will automatically use Radeon HD 7730M graphics card.

I owns a Inspiron 15R Special Edition and i'm having the same problem here. The switchable graphics worked for a time, but after an graphic card update it stoped to work.

I can access the Catalyst Control Center and the Switchable Graphics window, but when i change any application assingment and click "apply" it backs to "Not Assignet". I can't change any data there, it always backs to Not Assigned :/

Welcome to the Community,

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics card driver.

First Uninstall the Video Drivers from the Device manager.Access Control Panel - Device Manager -Display Adapters (Right Click and uninstall the ATI Radeon HD 7730,put check mark for Delete driver software,click OK).

Reboot the system and Uninstall the Catalyst Control Center from the Program and Features(Control Panel).

After uninstalling reboot system,download and reinstall driver from this link: lt.dell.com/.../lt.aspx

Reboot system and check if you're able to assign application using Catalyst Control Center.

So I just got my inspiron 15rse today. It has windows 8 and I for the life of me cannot find the catalyst control center. Its my first time using windows 8, but I have tried searching for it and to no avail. I'm doing driver updates now to see if it will install the catalyst control center. Am I on the right track?

To check if Catalyst Control Center is installed on your system, access Control Panel, Programs and Features and check the list of programs installed.

Inspiron 7520/15R (SE) is available with the following integrated and discrete GPU:

Model	Integrated Graphics	Discrete Graphics
Inspiron 7520	Intel HD 3000 Graphics with 1 GB video memory for Sandy Bridge Processors. Intel HD 4000 Graphics with 1 GB video memory for Ivy Bridge Processors.	AMD Radeon HD 7730M with 2 GB video memory

If your system was configured, only with the integrated graphics card, then you will not find Catalyst Control Center in your system.

To identify the graphics card installed on your system, access Control Panel, Device Manager, expand Display Adapters.
