Hi ymoiseyev,

Please follow the below steps for resolving the issue with system stuck at Dell logo.

  1. Turn on or restart the computer.
  2. Immediately at the Dell logo screen, starting tapping the key once a second until the BIOS screen pops up.
  3. Using the right arrow key move to ‘Advanced’ tab.
  4. Using the down arrow key move down to ‘SATA Mode’ and press ‘Enter’ button.
  5. Change the SATA operation in BIOS from Intel Smart Response to AHCI.
  6. Save changes in BIOS.
  7. Reboot the system.
  8. Go back into Bios (F2) and change SATA operation from AHCI to Intel Smart Response.
  9. Save the changes.
  10. Restart the system.
  11. Now system should boot into the normal mode.
  12. Please restart the system multiple times to check for issue resolution.

Please let me know if this helps.

I tried to follow your steps but  I was unable t save the changes the BIOS did not let me save the changes. I tried to change the SATA operations from Intel Smart Reponse to AHCI, it did not work.  I was unable to save the changes. I opened two service request tickets with your support. There are no replie no phone call. Nothing. I've got a brand a new computer which is 3 months old and every week I have problems with it

Ravi Chandra BC, I am sorry to say but what you posted here is a copy & pate text, which I already read on other forum threads. you could just post a link no need to copy and paste the text... I am very disappointed with Dell technicians.

Hi ymoiseyev,

I would advise you to connect an external monitor to the system and check if the system is booting up or not. If the system is booting up, please update the BIOS on the system using the link below.

In your BIOS go to BOOT page  and set Secure mode = DISABLED,  Option Rom = ENABLED, save it and try booting.  Remember to write down your original settings so you can go back if it does not work.  I have had that problem where the Option ROM seems to prevent booting in the SATA Hub Controller chip that communicates with the HD.  Sometimes the Option Rom pops up but it is not well documented on the procedures.  Let me know the result as I had same problem starting yesterday. Do you have an mSATA  SSD for ISRT acceleration?

I followed your instructions and  I did exactly what you said in your message.. Secure Mode was disabled and the option rom was enabled but I could not save the changes. The BIOS did not let me save the change.. Please, advice what to do now.... I am still having the same issue. Windows 8 does not launch when I start the computer..

I was hoping that your system was having the same problem as mine but yours  BIOS appears to have bigger problems if it will not save. I was always able to save. I would phone Dell  premium support line(Google it)  if your computer is  new within last three months. I had 3 months with mine which saved me.  There is new BIOS A14 which is supposed to fix some problems end of April and I think it will fix your problems. I am gone for a couple of days but I hope they can help you.

Bill Alsip, are you back to the office? if yes, can you please look into this case? I have not heard anything from your Premium Tech Support. I am still having an issue with booting an Inspiron 17R Special Edition. It does not let me start the operating system on the first go. I have to turn the computer off and press the start button again. Does it have smth do with the motherboard? if yes, please, send me a technician.

Hi ymoiseyev,

I would like to know what error you are receiving when you try to save the settings in the BIOS.

if you are able to change the settings in the BIOS. Please load it defaults and check for issue resolution.
