Hi ymoiseyev, I am not with Dell as you may think. I am just a recent customer like yourself.  Your best bet is to phone Dell at this point  or go to the place where you bought the computer since everyone gets a 1 year warranty.  That is if your BIOS appears totally dysfunctional. If you are able to boot Win 8 then I would keep trying the forum and wait for BIOS a14. I have premium support at present so I have been getting very good support from Dell and lots of help from both Dell and other users on this forum. I found that patience helps a lot but if you do not have a second backup computer you may be in more of a pickle.

Hi ymoiseyev,

I would like to know what error message you are receiving when you try to save the settings in the BIOS.

Hi ymoiseyev,

There seems to be an issue with the system board on the computer. I see that our Dellcares team has raised a request for an onsite service for replacing system board on your system. Please let us know if you face any concerns with the product after the service.

the laptop came back to me from your technician but I still have problems. Windows 8 needs to be activated some pre-installed pieces of sofware are gone. You had this laptop at your repair shop for a week and it looks like it has not been tested. Very disappointed..

Hi ymoiseyev,

Your system motherboard is inbuilt with windows 8 product key,if you are receiving a message not activated. Please activate the Windows it should automatically capture the product key from motherboard.

You can download most of the software’s titles from the link given below which came with the system. You need to register yourself using the system's Service Tag and please register from the dell computer for which you are registering.

Please let me know if this helps.

Another thing.. you suggest that I need to do registration on dell site... Why do I need to do so, if already registed the laptop in November 2012 when I purchased it from Dell. I don't understand the point of registering the laptop twice. Please, advice..

The motherboard and the hard drive have been replaced prior the laptop has been sent to your technician for repair. it looks like the laptop has not been test. If it has been tested then your tech person would have noticed immediatly that Windows asks for activation. Please, advice on what I shall do to activate the windows. Can you just sent me an activation key from my old motherboard? The activation key should be stored somewhere in your system. ..
