Same here! I made an order on Black Friday for the Alienware M17x R4 laptop and the original EDD was on 12/14. I received a call from Dell on 12/5 saying I had to cancel my order or upgrade to the M18x R2 laptop due to the over selling of M17x R4's on Black Friday. I told the agent I didn't mind upgrading as long as I received it in time for Christmas for my kids and he assured me it would arrive in time with a new EDD of 12/18. I talked to 3 different customer care agents yesterday when I noticed the item never changed to shipped on the Dell order status page. All 3 assured me it would ship yesterday and I would receive an email soon. I received an email at 5 AM this morning saying it has been delayed until on or before 12/25. THIS EMAIL DID NOT COME UNTIL THE DATE IT WAS SUPPOSE TO ARRIVE!!!! Who conducts business in this way? I am scared the big gift I bought my boys will not arrive for Christmas. Are any of the shipping companies even going to run on 12/25? How many of you recently delayed customers have the same date?
I'm in the same boat except they said "on or before 12/25/2012"...somehow, I don't believe they will actually get it to me. And once again, no explanation I can except or live with, just "delayed".
Well, I ordered my Latitude 10 tablet on 11/11/2012, got an original ship date of 12/14, which they "upgraded" to 12/11 because of some shady customer service (and if you compare the same tablet purchased through their "home" section to one purchased in the "business" section, you will no why!). So on the morning of the 11th, they said it would be delayed till today, the 18th, and this morning, I get the on or before the 25th, which means either Christmas eve, or Boxing day (if you are British or Canadian, which I am not), and by then, they will have delayed it till New Years...I'll be lucky to get it before my birthday in May!
Same date here. They're obviously just pushing the date back by a set amount, and not putting any actual thought into when our orders might actually be done. Just trying to appease us until things ship, so we don't get too upset.
