Sorry for delay in response.I was out of office due to weekly off.
Is the system still booting to Windows?
Were you able to click on Enable Acceleration and complete the steps to configure Smart Response by folloiwng the steps given under Issue 2 on the above document?
Note:You dont need to perform the steps under Issue 3 on that document.
In BIOS is the SATA operation set to Intel Smart Response?
If the system is able to boot to Windows but it shuts down due to some memory error, then try running the PSA diagnostics. To run the diagnostics tap F12 on start up(Dell logo),select diagnostics.
Msg: memory errors detected. Limit exceeded. Additional errors will not be resolved.
Tehnical support will need this information to diagnose the problem.
Please record the above error and validation codes.
Yesterday i had this in ePSA but for some reason i couldn`t find it in the errors manual.
Error code 2000-0114
Validation 129631
Msg: CPU- Cache integrity test discrepancy. CPU 0 ( ID 0x0 ) data error at address 0xAB211CEC. Expected AB211CE8, but found AB219CE8.
-> switched to ata, still can`t reach windows.
Indeed i was the one who installed win 8 on it but dell should have no problem supporting it + dell already offers the drivers for win 8 so i see no problem in having it
Please scroll up to my message dated Sat, Jan 5 2013 5:52 PM in which I attached screen shots but they have since disappeared.
"Is the system still booting to Windows?" Yes
Were you able to click on Enable Acceleration and complete the steps to configure Smart Response by folloiwng the steps given under Issue 2 on the above document? NO. I clicked on Enable Acceleration, then in the Accelerate tab, there is NO option to Dissociate.
I am unable to follow your steps. Please refer to the screen capture below:
I could not find any images attached on your previous reply however as per the image posted on your last reply I find IRST has already been configured and your HDD is accelerated.
Did you install the Windows update as instructed on my second response?
Now are you still getting the memory errors?
If yes,did you run the Diagnostics(tap F12 on start up,select diagnostics)?
No, I did not install the windows update because I could not proceed with the IRST config as you advised. Am I to understand that the fix is now applied and requires no further intervention?
The error I keep getting when the laptop is idle is as per the screen shot below.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Dell Support Center software on my new laptop and the pissue was resolved. But now, I am getting internet drop out every so often with an issue to do with wifi connectivity. This happens erratically and does not always resolve through troubleshooting. Other equipment using the same wifi network is not affected, only the DELL laptop.
Can you please advise:
1) a solution to the above problem
2) the contact details for the person who handles customer complaints and refunds as obviously I was sold a faulty laptop which hasn't worked properly from Day 1.
I had also faced some problem quite similar to yours
My problem was : i had dell 15r and due to something laptop booting failed. Let me describe this in detail :
The laptop was stuck at dell's logo.
It does not even enter the bios ...
When pressed the f2 and f12 keys during boot... It only shows a highlighted text corresponding to the key pressed.
And i can not do anything without entering the bios.
Solution : gone through technical specs like removing battery and pressing power button for some secs. and then booting up... And things like using power with function (fn) key. But no success.
i first checked my system removing ram one by one ( i had two 8 gigs ram ).. Didn't affected.. Problem still existed.
De-attached hard- now.. My laptop did entered the bios.
That's what i needed.
My hard disk got corrupted that's all i could conclude out of that...
So bought a laptop hard disk casing( costed my 250 indian ruppee ) ...attached my hard disk to it...
Started my laptop using legacy a live cd ( linux ubuntu live cd) and using it i formatted my whole hard disk (CAUTION : dell recovery drive too got erased ) . i formatted it in guid partiotioning because guid used UEFI .
Inserted my hard disk back to laptop and then started laptop in UEFI mode ...i booted it with dell windows cd ( which came along with it ) and then my hard disk got showed up there.
Formatted my hard disk there.. And tdaaahh ... Reinstalled my system.
I had earlier creates a windows backup so... Later restored it.
Hello - I do not have a choice at the first step. The only option for the SATA operation on my system is AHCI, so there's nothing to which nor from which I can toggle.

Hi zgript
Have you tried switching between ATA and AHCI (SATA operation under Advanced tab)?
Did your system come preinstalled with Windows 8?
Try running the onboard diagnostics by tapping F12 on start up(Dell logo).
Post back error code/message if any.

Hi cmb2012,
As your system is booting into Windows after trying the steps in BIOS and your HDD shows accelerated, now you just need to run the Windows Update.
For the above error try uninstalling and reinstalling Dell Support Center.
Use this link to reinstall it : www.dell.com/.../dsc_home
Thank You
