I did not get a back up cd or anything with my computer and it came with 8 per installed, so would I have to find a new windows disc or something like that?
Note: While updating BIOS, AC adapter should be plugged in, battery should be adequately charged(more than10%), and all external peripherals(USB devices), should be disconnected from the system.
Tapping F2 on start up should ideally let you access BIOS screen.
This time make sure the system is completely off, press power button to turn on the system, and keep tapping F2(as soon as you press power button, not just hit F2 once but keep tapping it).
Unless we are able to get to the BIOS screen, we wont be able to trouble shoot further.
I have this exact same problem, I have tried your recommended fixes but nothing seems to be working. I have a Windows 8 DVD that works perfectly on other computers but not this one. I changed the Boot settings accordingly and still nothing works. I see now that this might be an error on the manufacture and I would like to send in my Inspiron 5720

Hi armyeod,
Welcome to the Community,
Please try the steps given in this link : lt.dell.com/.../lt.aspx
Note: To perform the above steps, you would require a Windows 8 OS Media or Windows 8 USB key or Direct USB Key.

If you don't have the Windows DVD try the steps below:
1. Tap F2 at the Dell Logo to enter BIOS or System Setup and click Advanced
2. Set SATA Mode to AHCI
3. On the 'Boot ' tab set 'Boot List Mode' to UEFI
4. Set Secure Boot to Disabled
5. Save changes and Exit BIOS
If the system boots to Windows use this link below to download and update BIOS:
lt.dell.com/.../lt.aspx
Note: While updating BIOS, AC adapter should be plugged in, battery should be adequately charged(more than10%), and all external peripherals(USB devices), should be disconnected from the system.
Let me know if this helps.

I hit F2 and nothing happens, it continues to go to a black screen with F12 boot options in the lower right of the screen.
