No this has not answered my question.... I specificaly asked if it is possible to replace the Disk drive with a hard drive.... Not replace the hard drive..... I thought this was entirely obvious from my post... "Can i replace the disk drive in my Inspiron 14z ultrabook with a internal hard drive"
Please let us know which drive you wish to be replaced as a internal harddrive. As disk drive can be any of the following:
Sata harddrive
mSata SSD harddrive
Optical drive
Your system has all the above slots in which drives can be installed. If you wish to know what harddrive is installed on the system then kindly follow the steps below:
Click Start
Click Control Panel and Click Device Manager and expand the Disk drives.
Note down the name of the drives listed there.
Please let us know this information so we can provide the best possible solution for the same.

Rather than jerry-rigging an adapter, just use a standard, 2.5" SSD.

Yes, or with any other standard 2.5" SSD, assuming you're replacing the hard drive.

Please let us know the exact model number for your system. As we have three different model with Inspiron 14z:
Inspiron 14z (1470)
Inspiron 14z (N411z)
Inspiron 14Z 5423

I want to replace the optical drive with a sata hard drive. Replace the optical drive with a sata hard drive. Is this possible?
So i still have the ssd hard drive and the new one instead of the optical drive>

Using something like the part below, yes. HOWEVER, note that it may not be possible to boot from the drive mounted in such an adapter.
