Hi AudioSenseCD,

Your computer is shipped with ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 chipset and it support Mobile AMD Sempron, Mobile AMD Athlon 64, AMD Turion 64, AMD Turion 64 X2 processors. For more information on this, you may refer to link: http://bit.ly/UDOfyS

You may check the list of processors successfully tested by Dell with Inspiron 1501:

  • Turion 64 TL-60 (2.0 GHz / 1 MB)
  • Turion 64 TL-56 (1.8 GHz / 1 MB)
  • Turion 64 TL-52 (1.6 GHz / 1 MB)
  • Turion 64 TL-50 (1.6 GHz / 512 KB)
  • Sempron 3500+ (1.8 GHz / 512 KB)
  • Sempron 3400+ (1.8 GHz / 256 KB)
  • Sempron 3200+ (1.6 GHz / 512 KB)

AMD Turion 64 and AMD Turion 64 X2 supports the shares the same socket type (Socket S1). Other specifications like TDP and Frequency are almost same. The processor might work on computer. You may check specifications of AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 from link: http://bit.ly/131WojX

You may also refer to the system service manual for the instructions on re-seating the processor. You may refer to link: http://dell.to/W1NVeJ

Note: Please ensure to follow the safety instructions mentioned in manual.

You may try re-seating the processor and see if issue persists, you may check the status of the Caps lock, Num lock and scroll lock LED's in case the system is stuck at no post. You may check the table below to isolate the point of failure:

Num Lock Caps Lock Scroll Lock Error Indicated
Off Flash Off The memory is believed to be good but it is about to be exercised (such as when shadowing the BIOS and when testing / zeroing all memory).
Off On Off The system is performing diskette and hard disk initialization.
Off On Flash Flash USB controller initialization.
Off On On No DIMM is installed.
Flash On On EC turn on Pentium.
Flash Flash On Call option ROM for Video.
Flash Flash Flash CMOS initialization, SMI initialization, timer, gate A20, and mouse.
On On On POST has completed and the BIOS is about to jump to the PSA module.

Dell does not recommend or offer processor upgrade but it is as your discretion in case you really wish to go  ahead with it. Warranty per say, issues arising due to the upgrade will not be covered under warranty , however we will continue providing support for other issues and parts.

Please reply for further clarifications.

Hi KevinAu,

Please share the system model and operating system installed.

May I know which utility are you using to check the temperature of computer?

Are you facing system overheating issues? If yes, please ensure that the vents of the system are clean and allow free circulation of air inside the system. You may use a can of compressed air to clean the vents. Before you clean the air vents of system:

  1. Turn off the System.
  2. Unplug the AC Adapter.
  3. Remove the Battery.

For more information on cleaning the vents, please visit the following link: http://dell.to/SAep59

Please share the findings.

I learned to do the Sudarshan Kriya and was told by my instructor to practice it daily, but for some reason I can´t explain I don´t feel comfortable doing it. So I am looking for alternative techniques to do at home that might help me with my depression. I was referred to this web page by a former AoL teacher who recomended me the EE technique.
