Hi xtremejg,

I suggest that you check the display status in the BIOS screen. To go to BIOS screen restart the system and at Dell logo tap the F2 key every two seconds. Please check if the vertical lines are visible in this Setup Utility screen.

You may also try connecting an external monitor and check the display status. Once the external monitor is connected press Fn + F1 to display the image on the external monitor.

Please reply with the status to assist you further.

External monitors look fine. It is definitely in the screen design. It's especially noticeable after switching from the external to just using the laptop.

It's definitely in warranty. I bought it on the 20th of last month. But this is my 3rd one. All 3 had the issue. Could it be a bad batch that went out? Are there local Dell support centers that I can take it to?

Hi UlissesM,

I am sorry for the inconvenience; LCD please run the LCD test in the system to check the LCD is working as designed. Follow the steps below.

Turn the computer off >restart the computer

At the Dell logo screen, start tapping the F12 key a few times until you see the ‘One Time Boot Menu’ appear.

At the one time boot menu press the down arrow key to highlight ‘Diagnostic’, then press Enter to begin the PSA diagnostics.

You will soon see different colors on the screen; at this point please press ‘N’ which will begin the LCD Test. This test will help us to identify, if there is any issues with the LCD.

The screen will display multiple flashing colors, if you observe any blurry video, distortion and or any lines on your screen; it would mean that the LCD screen may be faulty.

During the test do check if the horizontal line appears? Also connect a known good monitor to the laptop and check if the external monitor works?

Let us know about the progress.

Hey Senthil,

I appreciate your reply.

I've executed the procedures mentioned by you.  On LCD Test screen (Bios)  the lines still there.  When I connect a external monitor the lines still on LCD Laptop and don't appear on a external monitor.

I've talked to dell Chat on line.  They updated my bios, video drivers and the lines still there.

Unfortunally I will need to replace the LCD screen.

Regards,

Ulisses
