Hi fish1985,

Welcome to the community.

Kindly remove both( Intel and AMD) the video drivers and application from the system. Then restart the system.

Once system is started kindly install Intel drivers first and then AMD from the link below:

Hi Sandeep,

Updates done to both drivers which have change the UI of the CCC but FSX still will not switch to the Radeon.

FSX still shoes the HD4000 as the only option as per my original screen shot.

Any other diagnostics that you want from my machine. Can you guys take remote control of laptops to take a look?

Many Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,

I would like to inform you that it would be better if you remove the flight simulator X from the system. Then restart the system and install it again.

Once it is installed and first time you would run the program it should give you the option to choose the graphic card you wish to use for the application.

Please perform these steps and let us know the results of the same.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Sandeep,

Removed, restarted then installed again check that it was set to run in high performance mode in CCC but still it goes to the HD4000 with no option to select the dedicated card.

Any idea what to do next? This seems like a common issue on the forum yet ive not seen a single thread as resolved, is there no fix for this? is there any way i can test the dedicated card actually works at all - im pretty sure its a switching issue as per other threads...

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks again,

Tom

Must be the software that does not recognize the card amd.

Install the software AMD system monitor to check if the card is being activated when using this software

Hi Tom,

Please try and disable the Intel card from the device manager. And then open the catalyst centre and check if your able to set AMD card for the FSX.

If that doesn't work out as well then kindly download the latest drivers and AMD Catalyst suit from the link below:

For Windows 7

For Windows 8

Please perform these steps and let us know the results of the same.

Hi to all,

the same happens to me. Switchable graphics don't work at all in that model (INSPIRON 15R SE)

fish1985, I've tryed several things (reinstall FS, full uninstall of drivers,  graphic card uninstall..), but didn't find the solution yet.

I have even spoken with technical support service and they tell me that the problem is due to the software (FS...), but they are wrong, this problem of switchable graphics in this laptop is due to dell.

They dind't yet find the driver that will solve this big problem. And they prefer to sell this computer instead of solving the problem. FSX does not work on mi Inspiron 15r SE, but even FS2004 crashes when flying in hard meteo. I have the same problem with Autocad, Catia and much more software.

I have spent 900euros in my pc and even bought a 2Gb AMD dedicated card for nothing. I have tried everything is posted in the forum but nothing works.

Hi LESO,

Welcome to the community.

Thanks for your inputs on the same. I would request to kindly update the video driver and software from the AMD website.

As the links provided below have been recently updated and it would be helpful in resolving this issue.

Please perform the same and let us know the results so if required we can advise you further.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Sandeep,

So i've tried everything and its becoming very time consuming. Is it possible to get this escalated? it seems theres are alot of people in the same position on this thread and other threads and basically we have laptops with a dedicated graphics card that we simply cannot use.  I am happy to take this further using the correct channels/process if required if this is not in your domain if you could advise on what the next course of action will be?

Thanks again for your continued help - but i really dont think  any of the drivers that currently exist out there actually work and Dell need to escalate and communicate what is being done about this.

Many Thanks,

Tom

Good afternoon,

Sandeep, technical support service has allready phoned me and told me to try the same you wrote.
I've downloaded and ind istalled the last driver of AMD Catalyst 13.2 released on january 29, but the problem keeps appearing.

I agree with Fish1985 in all his post. This problem has to be solved by Dell, they must create a driver that allows switchable graphics on this laptop model.
My laptop was delivered at the end of december and the problem has not been solved yet.

I repeat, DELL IS SELLING A MACHINE THAT DOES NOT WORK AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO.

All the models INSPIRON 7520 comes with 2 graphic cards, the integrated intel4000 and the dedicated one, AMD Radeon HD 7730M, but the second one, even if it is well installed, is not available since switchable graphics don't let it function.

90% of the persons that have bought this laptop does not know about the problem since they are basic users (Paint, Office, Internet, Films...), that's why this laptop is powerfull enough for them with Intel4000 graphic card. This users will never discover such problem because switchable graphics will never act.

For the other people that has bought this laptop for it's graphic card (in mi case 2Gb dedicated!!!), processor and so on, the problem is quite important. If I knew that, I would not spend 900€ and even bought a lower laptop model.

Is there anything more we could do? Other department that could agree whit us understanding  that this is a fraud from DELL selling a computer that does not work as it was supposed since... July?

Regards

I've posted on the DELL facebook page might get someones attention - running out of ideas may as well not have the graphics card really as it never switches over - and you cant force it due to the architecture.
