I  have now read the sticky thread "Dell Wireless and Bluetooth Drivers - Windows 7/8" which suggests that the correct driver for the 1704 is Network_BRCM_1704_W78_A01_Setup-P0HGH_ZPE.exe. Can someone clarify if the one I installed is the correct and most recent one, or should I install the other one?

Thanks

Max

Okay, I've established that Network_BRCM_1704_W78_A01_Setup-P0HGH_ZPE.exe is a newer driver, so I installed it and it updated the Bluetooth. But it still shows 2 Bluetooth enumerators and 2 Bluetooth devices, so my original question remains unanswered.

check this driver www.dell.com/.../DriverDetails

Check the Card DW1704 on N mode on N router-check if speed /signal drop issue there ?

Also check after the laptop wakes from sleep mode does it get connected in 1-2 sec or does it take longer time ?

Hi Aron

1. The driver you suggest seems to be for Win 7???

2. The BSS mode is 802.11n and the IBSS mode is 801.11b/g Auto. There is also an 802.11b/g/n Auto option, should I change it to that one?

3. The laptop is in desktop mode, so sleep mode is not an issue.

The problems I'm getting are:

1. the headphones won't connect. When you click the BH-M88 tile it says the device is not paired. When pairing is attempted it does not work anyway. However, the headphones usually do connect with a reboot. But this is annoying as Win 8 can take forever to reboot. This happens whether the phones are switched on or off.

2. The other problem is the sound quality is terrible. This can usually be fixed by turning the music player off and on.

thanks

Stuart

Accept my friend request sent  if you wish to.

yes the driver for win 7.

BSS mode is 802.11n (Check what speed your geting if its 54mbps or 72mbps,if its 54mbps then change) IBSS mode :802.11b/g/n Auto(After changing, check if there is any speed/signal fluctuation.)

check if the laptop is getting connected back in sec from sleep mode-as this is some common issue needs to be fixed.

regarding your headphone try using different headphone .

if the issue remain the same let me know .Il try to help you out.

Hi Aron

The problem is now fixed through a Windows 8 refresh, so I guess it was caused by some conflict created by installing Win 8 over Win 7.

My advice to anyone installing Win 8 over an earlier version of Windows is to do the refresh straight away, as it also solved some stability issues for me. Unfortunately it did not also solve the Radeon 7670M issue, this card has never worked properly.
