Hi christian71,

Please share the exact system model. Seven beep indicates processor failure and motherboard replacement may be required. Try releasing the residual charge from the system and check if that makes any difference. Here are the steps:

  • Disconnect any external peripherals (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) from the computer including the battery and AC Adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter. Try to restart the computer and check.

Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any questions.

Hi lili70,

Please share the exact system model. Yes, 8 beep error code indicates LCD failure and replacement may be required. If the system is within warranty, please share the system's Service Tag and Owner's Name with me via private message (click my username and then click Send a Private Message). I'll review the details and help make arrangements for repairs. Else, you may refer to the link http://dell.to/1coLzuz to get in touch with the Dell's Expired Warranty Support team if you are in USA. If you are in a different region, go to http://dell.to/15qqGcr select the country/region from the top, scroll down and click on 'Contact Dell Sales' to get the contact information.

Hi,

I have the 3 beep problem and it happened on the same day as when the time changed so I feel I have Time-Of-Day Clock test failure s how to fix this issue?

So mother board should be replaced ?

 That is the only solutions?

Thanks,

Sreedhar

Hi Sreedhar,

Generally the 3 beep code error indicates chipset Error (North and South bridge error, DMA/IMR/Timer error), Time-Of-Day Clock test failure, Gate A20 failure, Super I/O chip failure or Keyboard controller test failure for which the motherboard needs to be replaced.

Depending on the warranty status we can help you further, please use the link below to check the warranty status.

Please punch in the system service tag or express service code. In case your system warranty has expired please contact the Out of Warranty department 1-800-288-4410 (U.S.Customer only).
