Thank you for the response. Did you upgrade to Windows 8 or was it pre-installed in the system? Are you facing this issue only when installing Dell backup and recovery? Did you try to install any other software and faced the same error? Did you create partition on the computer? Please share a screenshot of the disk management?
Here are the steps to access Disk Management:
Right click on the bottom left hand side of the screen
Thank you for the response. The Dell Backup and Recovery should be pre-installed from the factory. Did you make any software or hardware changes to the computer? Did you uninstall Dell Backup and Recovery from the computer? Did you try to install any other software and facing the same issue?
Once I purchased it, it kept crashing so I uninstalled it and been trying to reinstall it ever since. I have installed other software with no problems. (i.e. Paintshop Pro X5) plus others like garmin lifetime updater and some others all with no problems. This is all after I uninstalled Dell Backup and Recovery and been trying to reinstall. No hardware changes.
Thank you for the response. It appears that there might be some issues with the recovery partition. Usually, uninstalling or re-installing Dell Backup and Recovery does not create any problem. I would recommend you to 'Refresh' the system.
The Refresh option is primarily a repair method. It is a great method of returning your PC to a known good state while preserving your files and a great deal of your configuration. With the Refresh your PC option, user accounts, data files, and some settings are preserved on your PC without the need to create a backup, or to make choices about what to keep or remove.
Note: The apps that came with your PC or you installed from Windows Store will be re-installed, but any apps you installed from other websites and DVDs will be removed. You'll find a list of the removed apps on your desktop after refreshing your PC.
To Refresh Windows 8 please follow the steps mentioned below:
Open the General section of PC Settings by the key combination WIN KEY + C to open charms bar and click PC Settings.
Click the Get started button under Refresh your PC without affecting your files.
Click the Next button at the Refresh your PC step of the wizard.
You may be prompted to insert installation or recovery media if there is not a recovery image preconfigured on your PC.
Click the Refresh button at the Ready to refresh your PC step.
At this point, the PC is restarted, and the refresh actions are completed.
Once Refresh' is completed, try to install Dell Backup and Recovery again on the computer.
im sorry, are you suggesting a OS refresh to install an update for dell backup? is there another way? I have been using this pc for a while and has many stuff on it that will not be sustained. i also notice that on alienrespawn.com there is a windows 8.1 upgrade link, but is is broken. I have been trying to solve this for 2 months. I have been reporting this broken link and my issue on email, chat etc but getting no help. all emails ended with them asking for my service tag and when i reply then with it, no reply after. I ended up posting on dell facebook page, but again, no help, all they do is sending me to private message to keep the their fb wall clean and then no reply in PM.
This is my last try, i have never dealt with any worse customer support yet. hope the forum can help.
