Hi Michael,

Welcome to the Community. There is an option where you can add a Msata Drive on the Daughter Board.

Yes you can set your Msata as the primary boot devices, you will need to change the SATA operation setting in the BIOS to AHCI and select it as the primary boot device.

Thank you.

Hi Mr.Rosan,

I ordered mSATA daughter board for my laptop, waiting for delivery.

The mSATA port is SATA 3? I can get 6 Gb/s speed in it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Sorry I did not add the chart, I have edited my post.

@Yuvaraja, The above chart should answer your question.

Thank you.

Hi Royan,

Sorry that still I see the same chart.

My question is, in my Inspiron 15R SE, this new daugher board (N7JHH)'s mSATA port is connected to SATA3 or SATA2?

That is, after installing SATA3 compatible mSATA drive in this daughter board, will I get SATA3 speed or will be limited to SATA2?

Hope my question will be clear.

Thanks.

Regards,

Yuvaraja Manikandan G

Yuvaraja ,

Did you order the daughter board part N7JHH from Dell US? I've been calling them for the past month without success? They keep saying its out of stock. How did you order it?

Easy way to tell:  if you order the system with the mSATA drive, the board will be there.  If you order the system without it, it will not.

got my laptop today if I pm my service tag can you tell me for definite that the correct daughter board with the msata port is installed don't want to waste my money buying the drive or opening the case if I don't need too?

thats the problem, on the ordering page it says its an option so in theory should be there but there are other posts saying that the laptopn either do or do not come with it when it was not included as an option but there was no option to include so i dont know if it has the port

If you chose the 32G mSATA cache drive option, you'll have the daughterboard.  If you did not, the daughterboard will not be in the system.
