In January 2013 my husbands laptop did the same thing, no warning.  I have a degree in IT support and tried every trick I knew and even investigated the issue online (trying a few new tricks).  I contacted Dell and after arguing and providing links to show there is a major issue with overheating and the soidering going bad they agreed to fix his laptop for free.  His 1 year warranty had just expired - which seems to be common.  Today his laptop did the same thing and I need to know what Dell intends to do.  His past Service Request Number <ADMIN NOTE: service request number removed per privacy policy> .

Base on what I have been reading both on the community website and else were on the net, this seem to been a manufacture defect issue. I am familiar with your enterprise base line models for both desktops and laptops of which we have over four thousand of them deployed and in the past when it is a known issue Dell provides a patch or a replacement. I have a Inspiron 15 M0530 and like everyone on this message board same issue. I have confirm all external periphials work on a similar system ( battery, HD, Memory and CD). I get no external display on a standalone monitor.  please let me know what my next option are.

Thanks

Hi BLS-DOL-Tech,

The 7 beep code indicates that there is a processor/motherboard failure. Try releasing the static power and check the system is working. Follow the steps below.

Switch off the system; remove the battery, ac adapter and the power cable. Press and hold down the power button for thirty seconds to drain any excess static power.

The ownership transfer is still not done for your laptop, so please provide your first and last name, phone number, shipping address and email address.

Please let us know where you have purchased the system and the date of purchase through a private chat.

Hello DELL-SENTHIL ,

Im having the same problem that everyone else is having with my Dell m5030. It does not boot up at all. It turns on and beep 7 times. This has been going on for a while and i tried everything. Is there possible Dell can give us all another Laptop free or anthing because this is an ongoing problem for everyone with this specific laptop. It is a recall and Dell should do something about it.

Yet another 7-beep-of-death story with the M5030.  My wife's laptop; less than two years old, literally never leaves the house.  Removing the power cord and battery and holding down the power button *sometimes* allows it to boot normally, but after a few minutes the screen goes black, and after a reboot it's back to the failed POST test.

I'd appreciate any help I could get.

Hi.

Looks like I'm joining a very long line of victims suffering from the 7 beeps syndrome.   Just got a friend's Inspiron M5030 and it's manifesting the 7 beeps.   The computer is about two years old and it failed with a blank screen and the 7 beep sound when the power button is depressed.   It appears that Dell has definitely sold a product with a design fault and as others mentioned, they should step up with some kind of remedy.    A lot of people have invested in a Dell product with the hopes that the Dell name is one of quality.    I have owned at least 3 Dell desktops and purchased 12 desktops for the church over the last 5 years.   they have been good products up until now.

I would like to know what Dell is planning to do about fixing or remedying this problem because I'm holding on to this unit in hopes that it will be resuscitated.

thanks for listening.

I am certified IT tech with 2 clients having the same laptop and symptoms which do not respond to any of the charge clearing methods mentioned in this thread.

What can Dell do about this problem.

At what point did Dell decide to simply stop responding to its customers?  I'm not necessarily asking for a free repair, though I sure wouldn't refuse one; I know this laptop is out of warranty.  (Though I think a pretty strong case could be made that Dell should be offering free or discounted repair, because apparently this particular model is consistently prone to this failure.)  But would it be too much to ask for the same level of responsiveness that previous posters in this thread received?  I'd like to get this thing fixed; how do I do that?

Wish you all luck!! I had the same issue and Dell graciously sent me a box and repaired my computer. Got it back and less than 3 weeks later same issue. I called them and they had me send it back again. Less than 24hours after getting it back for the second time...the 7 beeps of DELL HELL strikes again. At this point I dont believe DELL has a fix for this issue. Time to flood the BBB with complaints!!

I read this solution on another forum concerning the same problem.  I have an M5030 had the same 7 beeps.  Suggestion was to remove the motherboard, take out all of the plug-ins  (battery,  ram, cpu, graphics chips).    Make 4 two-inch aluminum foil balls to place under each corner and put the thing in a cookie sheet.

Bake for 8 minutes in an oven preheated to 385 degrees.  Open door and let cool for at least two hours.  It was worth a shot - AND WORKED PERFECTLY!

just a followup note on the Dell M5030...I spoke to a Dell rep about a possible recall and he said that although some had been recalled for repair.... as of today "upper-level" management had decided to stop the recall.  Now lets face it folks this is not about a simple laptop problem..."upper-level" management is about watching the $$$$$ Dell would spend on this problem and they decided to let it lie.  I myself am not disappointed in my M5030 and its sudden demise.  Sure all I get is a black screen and seven beeps....but praise the lord it was a gift and I am wise enough not to send it in to Dell for repairs.
