Hi irmab,

You may run a diagnostic test on your computer to ensure the correct functionality of system hardware. For more information on running diagnostics, you may refer to link: http://dell.to/OUGnqT

If the diagnostics pass, you may load the BIOS defaults by following the steps below:

  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as you see the Dell logo, start tapping the ‘F2’ key on top of the keyboard.
  • If you wait too long and the Microsoft Windows appears, then continue to wait until you see the Windows desktop. Now shutdown your computer and try again.
  • After this a new window would appear. You can only use the arrow keys of the keyboard to navigate between the options as the mouse is not functional in this mode.
  • Press F9 to load defaults and F10 to save and exit.
  • Restart your computer and see if the issue persists.

Please share the findings.

It passed the diagnostics and then I did the BIOS load with no success.  After rebooting I received "Reboot and select roper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot

Go into the BIOS setup - is the hard drive detected?  F2 at powerup.

How would I know if it is? Would there be something specific that says 'hard drive"?  It shows system memory, L1-L3 CPU Cache, and a few other things but nothing about "hard drive"  thanks
