Thank you. I have already found two candidates. Your driver is on my list! Officially not supported by Windows 8 as I see in Compatibility Tab?

What about this one I found in other thread:

ftp1.dell.com/.../6

It weights 22MB instead of 6MB. Maybe better and with blessing for W8? :)

Thank you once again!

Could you please post some feedback to somebody in charge of drivers section of Dell Support to include proper driver to support page to be dowloadable by service tag?

As I can see ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor driver avialability is common problem.

Hi zolko,

We are updating the drivers on support website. You can try installing the driver for 'ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor' from link: http://dell.to/XjKpXB

Steps to download drivers:-

  • Click 'Download file' to download the list to a folder you will designate.
  • Click 'Save'. Then designate the folder you would like to save the files to.
  • Once you have designated the folder you would like to save your files to, Click 'OK'.
  • Selected downloads will automatically start downloading. Next is Installation.
  • To start installation, Click Open folder. Right-click a downloaded file and select the option to ‘Run as administrator’.
  • A small window will appear with 'Continue' and 'Exit' buttons, click 'Continue'.
  • In the Select the folder where you want to unzip the files to window, click OK.
  • If a message appears asking to create a folder, click 'Yes'. If a message appears asking to overwrite the folder, click 'Yes to All'.
  • In the All files were successfully unzipped window, click OK.
  • A new window will appear, follow the prompts that appear to finish the installation.
  • Restart your computer.

If this does not work, you can try installing the same driver in compatibility mode, that may work.

  • Download the drivers for your computer from link above.
  • Right Click the driver installation file and select Properties -- > Compatibility Tab.
  • Select Windows 7 from the list in the following image.

  • Click Apply -- > OK.
  • Right Click the file and select the Run As Administrator option to install.
  • Follow the prompts on screen.

Hope it helps. Please reply for further clarifications.

Hi zolko,

I appreciate your efforts.

The second one (of 20.9 MB) is the updated version released on 10/25/2012. You can try that first and see if it helps. If the issue still persists, you can try the one I suggested in previous post.

Please reply for further clarifications.

Hi zolko,

I appreciate your concern.

I understand the drivers are not updated yet. Back-end team is working on this issue. As soon as the update for "ST Free Fall Sensor" is available, you would be able to download from support website.

I am on Windows 7 32 bit Dell E4310 Laptop and I've tried installing in several compatibility modes running as administrator but I get an error message saying that there's a version installed that  isn't compatible and I need to uninstall from the control panel however this has been done and I still get the same error message. I can't re-install and have gone through manually to remove files I know are associated with the program but that still doesn't work.  It's making me nuts because I keep getting notified of the missing driver but it won't let me install it.

Is there an installer for Freefall that would allow me to remove traces I'm not seeing while doing a manual removal?

Thank you!
