Have a try at that firmware, although it must be noted, not all drives have firmware. Are you still in warranty, as if you have tested absolutely everything, it could be the case that the drive may be faulty.
As I stated, not all drives require firmware. Some things we have to confirm before pointing the issue directly at the drive:
1. Test other forms of disk media.
2. Test other software packages, Windows tools, other Free burning programs.
3. Have you a drive from another laptop you can test to make sure this reads burned media in the system.
If all the same after the above, it would point to your drive being faulty. From there we would need to check the warranty of your system and decide to were to go from there.
thanks for giving suggestions. i tried all above suggestions but it seems that only original dvd's like movies and windows 7 disc provided by dell etc original media only read by current dvd drive. dvd drive does not have any problem with original media. only it is unable to read burned dvd's.
also one thing i wanted to ask is that my original system configuration had dvd drive of toshiba samsung storage technology . but dell have replaced dvd drive of my system of different manufacturer. was i supposed to get dvd drive of same company after replacement?
i want to upgrade firmware of my dvd drive. website shows firmware of older dvd drive after finding drivers by service tag number. please help me finding it.
Even when run with Admin privileges, it displays a message stating that admin privileges are required. Clicking the button to flash the firmware then displays an "Invalid F/W - Buyer Mismatch" error message.
I would be happy even being able to upgrade to just A200. Regretfully, there is no previous version linked to from the download page for this version.

Good Morning
Thank you for contacting the community.
What type of system do you currently have, and was this drive purchased with the system?
When you burn a blank disk from this drive, do you mean that other systems drives can read these particular burned disks, but your system cannot?
Does the drive read any burned disks at all?
Also, can you power on, go into safe mode (F8 on Power on) and see if you can read the disks there.
Regards
Kevin

Good Morning
Did you have the dvd drive replaced under warranty by Dell, or did you purchase the drive from a 2nd party?
1. Do you have a boot disk that has possibly been burned? Where you can boot from this from the F12 menu.
2. Have you tested it in safe mode.
3. Do burned disks from other systems work within the machine.
4. What burning software are you using.
Let me know the results of these.
Regards
Kevin

Good Morning
1. What software are you using to burn the disks, have you tried windows own burning tools?
2. Have you tested other types of disks.
3. Tested in safe mode

Hi Rupesh
In some cases, the type of faults the you describe can point to the laser being faulty within the drive.
In regards to your replacement, they are never always the exact replacement, but always like for like in terms of configuration etc....
Let me know if you require any more assistance Rupesh

Hi Rupesh
I have had a look, and as we discussed before, there looks to be no firmware for this drive, I have also checked externally online.

I too have this drive in a Studio 1558, except I have firmware A102.
There is an update to A201 at http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails?driverId=FM0HF but it fails to run properly.
