My Dell Studio 1558 display don't work

Hi, I have a problem with my laptop and I hope that you can help me. Well, a couple of days ago, when i tried to boot my Dell Studio 1558 the display didn't turn on and instead i could hear the sound beeps. After that, i turned it off and tried again and it turned on. I thought that display-not-turning-on is nothing, that it just needed to adjust to the temperature or similar. But now, the display won't turn on at all. I tried it million times. When i run the LCD test on it, it does show all the colors, but still, the display doesn't work when i boot the system. What is wrong with the display? Do i have to replace it or some other part of my laptop? I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance. Amila

Attach an external monitor - can you get an image on it?  If yes, it's likely the backlight or inverter has failed.  If not, it's likely the video chip that's bad.
