Dell Vostro 430 Case change?

Hi all,

I've been eager to upgrade my case of my Vostro 430. It uses a dell D735T MB, 500 GB HDD, core i7 860, GT220, 3GB Ram and a 350w PSU. I'm looking to upgrade to a full tower, however I hear that dell's custom made MBs are incompatible with many cases, if not all. Is there anyway around this or anything I can do? Or will I have to also upgrade the motherboard?

Thanks in advance!

The Vostro 430 mainboard is mATX and features a detachable IO shield. The main issue in moving the motherboard into a new case will be the CPU cooler: if the mounting bosses are integrated into the chassis, either a bolt-through kit or a new cooler will be needed.

The Windows OEM license is bound to the motherboard, not the case, so no issues will be had there.

Your statement should read:

Or will I have to also upgrade the motherboard and buy a copy of Windows?

A ding just hit me here! This is a socket 1156 motherboard using Intel i3,i5,i7 CPU. Wouldn't it be safe to assume that the mobo would be manufactured to accept the stock cooler on those CPUs???
