I also went to your support site. I put in my tag number, and checked the latest release of the AMD Graphics Driver, and it seems like my driver is up to date. It was released on 2/21/2013 and the version number is 8.951.9.1000 - which is the same as the one above, so I think I'm good there unless there is something I'm missing.

Can you think of anything?

June 24th, 2013 22:00

Just to be clear, you wish me to uninstall my driver. I don't see anything directly called AMD Driver in my Uninstall menu, but I do have AMD Catalyst Install Manager. Do you wish me to uninstall this? Secondly, I have Windows 7 64 based PC. In the webpage, do you wish me to download the verification tool after I've uninstalled the AMD Catalyst Install Manager?

Remember I am fairly computer illiterate, so I want to make sure of everything before I change anything on my computer. I don't want to screw anything up.

Hi ChicagoJack0328 .

I would like to inform you that this issue occurs if the ATI driver and software is not installed correctly.  Kindly remove the driver software from the link below:

http://bit.ly/13EHEEV

And then you can download the Win 7 64 bit driver to resolve this issue. If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

So again, just to be clear, you wish for me to download the uninstaller, uninstall the driver, then re-install the Driver verification tool - not the beta driver. Do you want me to install the driver from the support site as well?

I don't mean to be difficult, but I haven't touched any drivers on this laptop. Everything I have now is what was given to me out-of-box. Thanks for your patience and assistance.

Hi ChicagoJack0328,

Yes please uninstall the driver using the utility and then install the driver from the link mentioned in the first post. Please download this driver:

Latest Beta Driver 178 MB 13.6 Beta 6/7/2013 Download

You would not need to install the driver from the support site as driver from the AMD website would be enough. If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

So the Catalyst loads up, but I don't know how to switch graphics cards now. It doesn't give me an option to. I think it thinks I only have the AMD installed.

June 25th, 2013 22:00

I downloaded the uninstall utility. It removed all Radeon material from my computer. I then rebooted my machine and installed the Latest Beta Driver from the above link. I rebooted and now my computer is telling me that I do not have the correct driver for my video card.

Should I download the uninstall utility again, then try something else?

Hi ChicagoJack0328,

I appreciate the time and effort that you took to troubleshoot the issue. Kindly post the screenshot of your device manager with display adapter expanded so we can check if drivers are installed properly.

Also, you can perform the below steps to setting AMD as default video card for any specific application:

Click the Start button  and select Programs

Click Catalyst Control Center

Click Power and select Switchable Graphics

Choose an application from the list or browse and select an application and assign the appropriate GPU.

If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

Also, the CCC still won't open, but I'm sure that's just a sign that I have the wrong driver.

June 25th, 2013 23:00

As I don't know how to take a screenshot, I'll try and describe it to you. The device manager, with the display adapters section expanded, says AMD Radeon HD 7700M Series, and below it, it says Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. I am worried because I have 7730. Also, the icon which displays to the left of the AMD text shows a Monitor with a triangle, yellow, exclamation mark, alert sign.

When I check the radeon properties, under the driver tab, it says Driver provider: AMD. Driver date: 6/4/2013. Driver Version: 13.101.0.0 and Digital Signer: AMD

Also, there is no power option under the catalyst control center. There is desktops and displays (for adding and removing deplays and desktop management), video (for accelerated video conversion), and information. There is a panel to the left saying pinned and presets.

June 25th, 2013 23:00

Also, in the general tab of the radeon properties, it says the device has stopped working because windows detected problems with it.

June 26th, 2013 02:00

So I ended up running the uninstaller again, then rebooted and installed the original driver from the support site. My system recognizes my two graphics cards, and what's better is the CCC and switchable graphics now works correctly. So I think the problem has been solved.
