You have mentioned that you have download/installed everything that was needed. Was the BIOS updated to A09 version? If not, please download and update the BIOS for Latitude E6330 from here and check if the fan noise and temperature is changed.
Note: Plug your computer to a good, working UPS before you update the BIOS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to buy a new BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.
I do not have the notebook at the moment but I will check its BIOS this evening when back home. I generally work with the PC plugged to the AC power. I will let you know the results no later than tomorrow morning if any. Sincerely,
I have now the notebook E6330 in front of me and the BIOS really needed to be upgraded since it was 07. But it does not seem to reduce the temperature of the cores reported by Speedfan 4.49 since they remain between 45 and 50°C when the PC is idle. At maximal stress test, the temperature is a little higher (90°C) than with the previous bios and close to the one obtained with the E6320 (92°C). The fan noise seems comparable. Is it normal?
As you mentioned you did not notice any big difference after updating the BIOS, I would like to know if you are observing any signs of overheating except for the test results in “SpeedFan” and during Stress test.
Does the system freeze while using for long durations? Does the area underneath the laptop or anywhere else too hot to touch?
there are no signs of overheating when the notebook is idle: room temperature is 20°C and the pc's temperature is acceptable for my hand palm and thighs probably about ~35°C (Temp1 reported by speedfan is 34°C) . Since I bought it recently second hand, I have not installed a lot of software then I cannot compare with the other notebook except when idle, updates or stress tests. Regards,
As you mentioned you have purchased the computer second hand, I would recommend cleaning the air vents of the laptop using a compressed air can to remove any accumulated dust. After cleaning continue to use the laptop and keep us updated with the status.
I have inspected the vents and removed the base at the back: both were immaculate, showing no dust. I didnot want to go further and check the CPU thermal paste at this point: "dismantling" the notebook to gain access to the heat pipes seems a lengthy process for a non specialist.
Instead, I installed windows 8 64b and the software.
As you mentioned the vents and the surroundings of the System fan are clean, indeed you did the right thing by not dismantling the laptop. Also, you have successfully installed the Operating System so it seems it is all good. Keep us posted if you need any further help.

Sorry I made a mistake: the max temp on the 6330 is not 92°C but 87°C.
