You'd need to change the system board - there is no video card, nor any provision for one.  There are a couple of other N5110 boards with nVidia or AMD hybrid video, but they're soldered to the board so a board replacement is needed.

Figure on $250 or so for a board, plus labor - and if your system has a 65 W adapter, you'll need a 90W adapter to run the replacement board.

Given the age of the system and the fact that the video options, even with a mainboard replacement, are several years old, the funds are likely better put toward a new system than upgrading this one.

Hello Amit,

Dell Inspiron N5110 was shipped with the following Integrated and Discrete video solutions:

  • Intel HD Graphics 3000 (UMA)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M (Discrete)
  • AMD Radeon HD 6470M (Discrete)

nVidia GT640M was never tested with this system. Hence the motherboard with GT640M is unavailable for an Inspiron N5110.

You can upgrade the RAM in the system to as much as 2X4G DDR-3 = total 8.

There is no way to upgrade the video chip at all.
