Hi gutrouge,

Please reply with a little more clarification about the problem. If possible, please add an screenshot of the “Device Manager” showing the exclamation mark against the device. Also, add the Device Instance ID of the device with the exclamation mark. To get the Device Instance ID:

  1. Press the Windows + R key on the keyboard to launch the “Run” dialog box.
  2. Type “devmgmt.msc” and hit “Enter”.
  3. “Device Manager” window will open.
  4. Open the “Wi-USB” (the device with yellow exclamation).
  5. Click the “Details” tab.
  6. Select Device Instance Path or Device Instance Id (whichever is available for your version of Windows) from the drop down box. The first part of the Value identifies the drive type followed by a long series of underscores, and then the firmware version number. The rest of Value is not needed. See the sample image below (this is for Optical Drive, it may be different for your device), the first part of the value shown identifies the drive type as "IDE\CDROMHL_BDDVDRW_GBC-H20L", followed by the firmware version number of 1.B8.

  7. Write the version number down.
  8. In your reply please add the Device Instance Path or Device Instance Id so that I can research on the issue.

Hi gutrouge,

Try downloading the “Intel Wireless Display Connection Manager Driver for Inspiron 7xxx and 5xxx series” from here. Update the drivers and check if this helps.

Do reply with results.

Follow these steps and check if these steps help:

  1. Download and install “Revo Uninstaller” from here.
  2. Uninstall the “Intel Wireless Display Connection Manager Driver” completely using “Revo Uninstaller”.
  3. Restart the computer and then again install the “Intel Wireless Display Connection Manager Driver”.
  4. Check in the “Device Manager” if the exclamation mark still appears.

Hi gutrouge,

In your previous post you mentioned that the Intel Wireless Display Connection Manager was already up to date in your machine. Use "Hunter Mode" of Revo Uninstaller and point to the Icon on the Desktop and follow the onscreen instructions. Click here to find more about "Hunter Mode" in Revo Uninstaller.

Sorry, I think they ve removed the block. And I tried from the answers given in Microsoft's blog. I just changed the year to 2012 and the exclamation mark has disappeared. Please look at the attachment. Please look for the solution.
