We need you to post pictures showing the issue. What ports have you tested? What is the PPID and revision numbers?

Thanks for you response Chris.

I have tried both the supplied DVI and VGA cable and the problem persists. Unfortunately my graphics card does not have DisplayPort so am unable to try this however due to the reading i have done on the issue I do not believe this would solve the problem. Additionally it is also almost impossible for me to photograph the fault and it seems not many others have been successful in photographing the fault on their monitors. The best way to discribe what I (and my partner as well) am seeing is diagonal lines criss-crossing in both directions. On a white background it appears a faint brownish-yellow color but is certainly not restricted to white backgrounds including being visible in the blue task bar at the bottom of the windows desktop.

The PPID on my monitor is CN-OGKOKD-74445-343-475L and revision number is REV A01.

I am an enthusiast photographer and purchased the monitor with the intention of using it for photo editing in addition to general use. However in its current condition I believe it is almost unusable for photo editing due to the fault. And not to mention now I am aware of the fault I cant help but constantly notice it! So unless there is a fix for the issue I may have to return or exchange the monitor.

Post a video showing us the issues. We need some proof of the issue before an exchange can be setup.

I have managed to take a photo showing the issue. You can see the faint diagonal line texture especially towards the bottom of the screen. Do you have an email address I can send the image to? I am unable to insert the image for some reason probably due to the size of the image.

I am unable to upload to image shack because the file is too big coming in at 10.8mb. I can reduce the quality of the jpeg but it may make it impossible to see the issue. What is the maximum file size for uploading to imageshack or alternatively what is your email address so I can email the image directly to you?

I reduced the photo to an acceptable file size for imageshack. The link is

However the image is certainly not as sharp as the original file. It does still show the discussed issue. If you would like the full size original photo I can email it directly to you.

Cheers

In my opinion, the monitor is within our manufacturer specifications. You can contact Technical Support and press your case for a monitor exchange.

I've got the same issue with the unit I got last week. It occurs on the lower half of the screen.

Chris, does this mean cross-hatching is an inherent characteristic for this model? Honestly, I love this monitor, but those diagonal lines are quite distracting specially when editing images. :D

Speedster I also love everything else about this monitor. Its just a shame about the diagonal lines!!

So your explanation is that the cross-hatching is a characteristic of this monitor model and not just of the specific monitor I received? I wish you had given me the opportunity to email you the full high quality image because if you could see the cross-hatching on my particular monitor I am sure you would agree that it is not acceptable especially given that the monitor is not an entry level or budget model.

I will be contacting Technical Support but will not be pressing my case for a monitor exchange. Given that your explanation suggest that any replacement monitor will suffer from the same issue, I do not want another as I believe the monitor is of unacceptable quality. I will be requesting a return and hope that Dell will be kind enough to pay for the return postage given the issue with my monitor.
