1397 WLAN Mini-Card stops working only when lots of data streaming

First try...

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.

Try these tweaks....

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Click on advanced. Look for Antenna Diversity. If the adapter has this setting, change it from Auto to Aux

Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

If the connection still does not work, try changing the router settings to WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security(Personal) and try using channel 11. See if you can connect.

Thanks for the tips. I tried the first 4 with no change in performance. Have to wait until tomorrow to mess around with the router settings and see if that works.

A *brilliant* thought just dawned on me. Does anyone think buying an external wireless card will do the job?

Buying an external wireless usb adapter works for all systems. We try to help get the one working inside. If people don't want to open the system and reseat/replace the adapter and feel comfortable with a wireless usb adapter, that's ok. I have one in case it's needed. had a wireless adapter fail, onlt after I purchased the adapter, did I find out the wireless card workds, just somehow got turned off.

I tried changing the wireless settings as you mentioned above and changed to Channel 11 but still had the same problem. Any other ideas? Thanks a lot Rick, your help is much appreciated

Try using it at another location. Does this happen there?

Try a WiFi Hotspot?

Tried it out at my work network and the same thing happened - lost connection with streaming video.. It seems like right before I lose connection the fan really starts to make a lot of noise and the computer gets warmer. Could overheating be the culprit?
