Hi,

Please try the below mentioned steps and reply with results:

  1. Check for optimal video resolution in the Monitor OSD (On Screen Display) Menu. Run factory reset. (Refer monitor’s user guide for the steps).
  2. Check if the “Purple Waves” occur on Dell Logo and in BIOS. If “Purple Waves” is seen on dell Logo and in BIOS, follow Outside OS troubleshooting below, else follow Within OS troubleshooting.

Outside OS Troubleshooting

  1. Ensure Video cable is functional/not damaged (broken/bent pins). Reseat monitor data cable (VGA, DVI, HDMI or Display Port).
  2. Run Monitor self-test / BIST (Refer monitor’s user guide for the steps on running BIST). If test fails, Monitor needs to be replaced. Else follow next step.
  3. Check if the issue persists when the monitor is connected via different video port source. If the issue exists monitor needs to be replaced, else follow inside OS troubleshooting.

Inside OS Troubleshooting

  1. Adjust the video resolution to Optimum/Maximum resolution as suggested in the OSD Menu.
  2. Run “MS Fix-It: Solve Windows display quality issues”. Click here to run this MS Fix-It. Download the updated video driver and BIOS. Uninstall video driver and then install the updated Video driver and BIOS.
Note: Plug your computer to a good, working UPS before you update the BIOS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to buy a new BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.
  3. Check this monitor with a known good computer. If monitor fails there, monitor needs to be replaced, else follow next step.
  4. Run 32-bit Diagnostics on Video card. Click here to get steps on how to run 32-bit Diagnostics.
  5. If test fails reply with the error code displayed, else perform PC-Restore/Operating System Re-Installation.

Hi,

Check your computer's surroundings. Move away speakers, fluorescent lights, fans, cell phones, radios and other electrical devices that can cause video to get distorted. Temporarily move electrical items away from the computer to determine whether they are producing this issue.

If the coloration disappears, put back one item at a time to determine what is causing the problem.

If the above steps don’t work, try switching to a different refresh rate other that 59-60 Hz and check if the issue remains.

If possible please attach an image of the problematic screen in your reply.
