Dell Latitude 6430u network drivers

I am unable to install any of the Dell Wireless drivers from the download site. The device manager is showing as needing a driver and have tried to install all of the network drivers from the site but none will install.

Hi Sundeep,

The hardware id is PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_00151028&REV_01

Hi ck101,

Dell Latitude 6430u is shipped with various wireless card options. You may follow the steps below to find the Hardware Id of network controller and share it here.

  • Open Device Manager
  • Expand Network Adapter and Other Devices
  • You may right click the device under Device Manager and click on Properties -> Details -> Hardware Id

Please reply with the findings. Will take it further from there.

Hi ck101,

It appears the wireless card installed in your system is Dell Wi-Fi 1504 Half MiniCard. You may try downloading/installing the drivers from support site Here -> Enter the Service Tag -> Select Correct OS -> Expand Network -> Download/install Dell Airplane mode switch driver and also Dell Wi-Fi driver for 1504 card. Follow the onscreen instructions and restart the computer when prompted.

If you face issues while installing drivers, ensure that the wireless switch is at on position. You may also toggle wireless from Windows Mobility Center by pressing Windows + X button on keyboard. You may refer to screenshot below, number 5 is wireless switch :

If the issue persists, please share the operating system installed.

Please reply with the findings. I would be glad to help you.

I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit on Dell Latitude 6430u.

I am having an issue also with finding the correct wireless network driver to use. I thought maybe it was a faulty airplane mode switch or BIOS configuration issue. I have checked the BIOS and Wireless is definitely enabled, and I installed the WiDi software which recognises when the airplane mode switch is on or off (so physically the machine can see the switch state). The WiFi indicator light on the keyboard never lights up. There is no Function key combo to turn this on or off.

I believe I have already tried installing all drivers from the Drivers page. All of them were rejected when trying to install from Device Manager. Some I have attempted to install via the installers... but this is not a desirable deployment method as we intend to incorporate the drivers into an SCCM driver package to deploy during a build task sequence.

There is an unidentified Network Controller in Device Manager. The hardware IDs are:

PCI\VEN_168c&DEV_0034&SUBSYS_020B1028&REV_01

PCI\VEN_168c&DEV_0034&SUBSYS_020B1028

PCI\VEN_168c&DEV_0034&CC_028000

PCI\VEN_168c&DEV_0034&CC_028

I have googled for this VEN / DEV / SUBSYS combo to no avail. I found a Qualcomm Atheros 9xxx driver with the VEN / DEV combo that covered a large array of devices but this did not work either.

I am totally lost. Any ideas? Preferably looking for drivers that can install from the .inf & .cat files alone (without the need to install software).

I will be speaking to my Dell rep next week so if I get an answer I will post it here, but would be great if I could get an answer sooner.

Cheers,

Brendan

Hi Sundeep,

I am also running Windows 7 64-bit OS and when I follow the instructions above the Dell Airplane mode switch driver or the Dell Wi-Fi driver for 1504 card does not appear in the drop down list, there is an Airplane mode switch driver for Windows 8 though, is this something I can use with Windows 7?

I've managed to sort this out in my case.

PCI\VEN_168c&DEV_0034&SUBSYS_020B1028&REV_01 apparently refers to the Dell Wireless 1601 WiFi/BT/WiGig combo. Although I had installed the driver for the WiGig component this was not able to drive the WiFi components.

To resolve this I downloaded the update package TKPT6 A01 from the Dell website (Network_Driver_TKPT6_WN_10.0.0.227_A01), unpacked the archive and installed via Device Manager using the files in \drivers\production\Windows7-x64\WLAN-Driver. These files have been included in the SCCM driver package for this model now.

As I had trouble finding any matching information for he hardware ID, for the benefit of people who have the same issue and are searching for an answer:

VEN 168
DEV 0034
SUBSYS 020B1028
Drivers: http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/au/en/aubsd1/Product/latitude-6430u-ultrabook
Dell WiFi / Bluetooth Driver - DW1601
Dell WiGig Driver - DW1601

Thanks, Brendan.  Been banging on my head on this all morning. Unbelievable that Dell can't manage to put a working driver on the main download page for this model.
